Wouldn't be surprised if European and domestic trophies offset that, somewhat.

To be fair though, Bournemouth got bought out by Maxim Demin who funded their rise to the Premier League. Brighton obviously had Tony Bloom funding them. Our rise feels better because we didn't do it with millions in the bank.

True. But on the other hand a bit depressing that we don’t have anyone prepared to back us in that way.

Acun can’t back us in the way Bloom did as he doesn’t have the same money to invest in it and all the current regulations wouldn’t allow it now. Bloom has also done well for Brighton in his analytical approach. Wouldn’t go down well in ‘Ull.

True enough, though football is so data driven these days that it wouldn't be so bad.

I never knew exactly how much Bartlett et al had in terms of cash on hand, but I can't imagine it was much given how things unfolded post relegation.

They did it on credit, secured by a property portfolio.

It was an unsustainable long-term model dependent on a promotion and a relatively quick sale.

But for one reason or another, the 2008 collapse of commercial banking rather put a spanner in the works.

What amazed me tonight was the amount of hangers on Acun had. Mostly foreign and all well dressed compared to him. I've a feeling should he need it there will be finance from somewhere for him to complete the job at City.

He's also being seen in his own country promoting the club in his channels championship coverage.

I said that deal was significant when he dropped it in at the last fan meeting.

Id have to scrape through the data and I’m currently in the car on the way back but you take out their penalty they only had 1.49xG from all their shots. So it is 20 shots we gave them an average xG per shot of about 0.08 which is really low.

1.49xG to not score is still incredibly impressive from Pandur.

    They did score.

But we got lucky on the post.

They got lucky twice late on..

Football matches aren't linear, and stats in the hands of those widely using them outside of a professional context know **** all about football.

    Yeah, we took risks.

Pandur kept us level when we could have had a mountain to climb

But it was a deserved win over the full 90+ by anyone watching it. And an exciting one too.

Oh I agree. I can only think of their header from the double save that was a high xG chance (FotMob has it at 0.42). The rest appear to be anything in the low quality range. I genuinely don’t think they were a threat after the first 10 mins and a very small spell between HT and us bringing Zambrano on

1.49 is the non penalty xG. It’s at 2.56 if you include the pen

Agree to disagree on that, there was a shot through bodies that was destined for the bottom corner he did terrifically well to get down to, which I'm sure would have been considered low xG but would almost always be a goal, as weird as that is to say. One thing I've never quite understood with xG is whether it takes into account bodies between the shooter and the keeper or not?

On RH with Mike White Tim said they started like a fire engine, not us, so that is a misquote. I think he meant they started like a house on fire.

    Corrected.

But don't you think it's a confidence game?

Don't you think it's stretching the game to give us opportunities?

He's not getting sacked anytime soon now, so it gonna be entertaining to see how this plays out.

To be fair I’m never a huge fan of it in game circumstances. It tells a story over a season generally or a large amount of games but in games so many outliers can sway it.

xGOT has some merit as it indicates the “post shot”. Basically how well the player does with the shot in making it a good chance. For example Drameh’s goal

    0.04 xG
    0.25 xGOT

Basically his shot quality increased the likelihood of that going in. For the shot you referenced I think it’s this

    0.04 xG
    0.12 xGOT
