Norwich City v Leeds United
Tuesday 1st October@19:45 | Carrow Road

Leeds face an anxious wait on the fitness of inspirational Captain Ethan Ampadu ahead of their trip to Carrow Road on Tuesday evening.

The Welsh International limped off just before the half time interval in obvious discomfort, and was replaced by AO Tanaka, whose assertive performance will give the gaffer food for thought ahead of team selection.

Just like Bielsa, Farke doesn't like to tinker with his starting XI unless he has to, but with little over 72 hours to prepare, it remains to be seen whether Ampadu will be 100% fit. Leeds are fortunate to have the likes of Tanaka, Rothwell and even Crew to call upon in the skippers absence. If he does miss out, the Captain's armband will go to Struijk.

The two sides played four times last season with Daniel Farke doing the double over his former club in the league, then knocking them out of the play-off semi-finals with a 4-0 aggregate over two legs. Norwich have only beaten Leeds once in eight attempts, a 3-1 win at Elland Road in February 2019.

The Canaries have had a moderately good start to their 24/25 campaign considering their opening day defeat at Oxford Utd. The departures of Gabriel Sara, Adam Idah and Jonathan Rowe have hit them hard, but have picked up nine points since

Veteran striker Ashley Barnes is out with a leg injury, meaning their goal threat falls once again on Borja Sainz (6 goals already) and Joshua Sargent. Christian Fassnacht is out of action until late October with an Achilles problem, whereas centre-back Jacob Sorensen has a foot issue.

Leeds are without Manor Solomon (hamstring), Max Wober (thigh/knee) and Dan James (hamstring). Apart from Ampadu, Daniel Farke should pick the same XI that pulverised the Sky Blues at the weekend.

Ampadu is the one injury we can do without. I can’t think of a like-for-like cover in the squad. We’ve always considered him the emergency cover at CB but haven’t thought about this eventuality. Someone tell me I’m wrong please.

Personally, if there's any doubt about Ampadu's injury I wouldn't
risk him playing Tuesday, what with another game 3 days later. Then we have another international break, ffs, tell Wales they can't have him.

Yep. Try and keep as many of the international players here for this one. I'll be mightily pissed off if Solomon gets fit just in time for Israel.

Leeds win, three points needed to keep the pressure on the rest
I think the league this season is bang average IF we can put a run together like we did mid season last year we will go up. Our finishing is the only thing that might prevent that. Yesterday the camera cut to Farke after a miss (think it was Ramazani) and he looked as frustrated as the fans. I feel sorry for him, had Coventry nicked a draw because of missed chances Farke would have got it in his neck with that rubbish we can’t break teams down. We do that regularly we’re just not clinical enough.

Totally agree with Leedsoflondon. Think this season there are some really bang average teams in here. up to now apart from West Brom we have blown everyone away and even though we lost to Burnley we had enough chances and possession to howk them. Looking through the league the teams I fancied to push have lost their best players Hull,Norwich. Still think Boro are going to be a big threat. Play as we have we should be to strong for Norwich if we put our chances away. Willy is finding his form Largie is bedding in both big players for us. as for Amps I really hope its not a bad one I was reading somewhere this morning it could be a ACL I feckin hope not.

I know Norwich have hit a bit of form and Sunderland have started well but if we want top 2, we need 4 points from these 2 games
6 for me to make a statement.

We need to make one and go on a 12 game at least winning streak. Doubt it will happen, but I’ve got my fingers crossed.

I think Piroe should get a start as a number 10. He can finish consistently, whereas Gnonto is hit and miss lol. Deffo not barn door ever. Get rid of him asap. Utter crap.
