My dog was at the vets yesterday left £189 down with another appointment next monday so more slipping through my fingers then with the possibility surgery will be required
Got mine insured with Tesco for some ridiculous amount of money which I hope I'll never have to call upon ...
I was wondering if you could claim on your home insurance for the tree surgery, if it meets specific conditions such as a hazard. Just seems an awful lot of money to shell out for something beyond your control.
Hope no surgery is needed. We keep discussing the idea of a dog, would be great for the kids to grow up with one. But times like this when they are badly is a killer.
They’re mentally expensive. Food, vets, insurance, dog-sitters if you go away plus the actual cost of buying one. Best money you’ll ever spend.
I did check but no, it's not. Slipped through the net a bit that. I hadn't added garden cover, which would have sorted it. I'd have factored in new back gates if I'd had that, considering the 'damage' caused! Plus, they'd have pissed around nominating me a contractor to do it and then charged excess, so I pay anyway and they up my premium next year. It needed doing, and I know someone who can also deal with the TM and closure, so cash in hand sorts it.
Don't mean the premiums as such - she's insured for £2 million on third party liability ... and something like £10k on vets fees - I was working for Tesco at the time I took it out and got a 'privilege' rate that seems to have stayed in place despite me having left them a fair while ago ... same for our phones... my mobile bill is £11 a month ... Get ripped off on loads of other things mind ...
If we'd have paid the £50 a month or something (which doesn't cover dental work anyway) , we'd have spent a good deal more than the £1200! We notionally put that money away every month to cover his costs, which so far have been minimal. Rather than it going to an insurance company, who still charge you something anyway. Because they are thieves.
In fairness, if we'd done that we'd have been quids in too ... but I'm not particularly good at putting money away ... also, when we first got her we were driving to the midi-pyrenees every summer and the cover extends to European veterinary needs too ... so peace of mind and all that ...
They are ****ing thieves Had a £1200 bill earlier this year for my dog's op. Insurance company refused to pay out because I amended the dog's birth date, which THEY got wrong on the initial certificate. ****s the lots of them
Over the years parents/we have had German Shepard, Labrador, Labrador Retriever, Springer, Patterdale Terrier, Spaniel… But do t think could go through the loss of another.
Been through this more times than I care to remember, but for all of the heartache at the end, I wouldn't swap it for not having had the years with them
@Nilk just been seeing on the news again where the Carolina's got hit by that hurricane, got to be the worse one in a short while that one. I saw where the upper keys got bashed a couple of years back but trouble is where you are it has more to aim for. Stay safe bro.
Girl I was class with at school lives near Hendersonville NC. Lost everything, house gone, completely wiped out, and two cars. Plus, their dog died in it. Pretty ****ing grim tbh.
True story. Friends of ours visiting NYC very nervous of lifts which makes it a strange place to go but never mind. They get in a lift and the next floor 2 huge back guys get in black suits shades earpieces in and another follows them in to the lift. As the lift starts moving one of the blokes says what they thought was "go to ground" having seen way to many cheesy films they both panic and dive on the floor (there might be some racist thoughts at this point but there's no admission of that from them). The last black guy in the middle steps in and asks if they are okay and explains that he just wanted to go to the ground floor but is apologetic and they all help the couple up and apologise for the misunderstanding. That guy (who is Will Smith) then paid for their hotel to apologise.
