- Dibling isn’t a striker - Lesley was awful - proper stinker - Cornet.. was he playing? - Ben Brereton Diaz should never play for us in this league again - Not sure if we will score another goal this season
Sounds like he’s just done a full U-turn from the interview where he said he can’t stick by the players who got us up because they aren’t good enough. Just said need players who will fight regardless of talent, so sounds like we will see more of the team that played the first games
Bayern appointing Kompany is the worst thing which could have happened, because it enables the likes of Martin to continue to be stubborn/arrogant. Manage for themselves not for their team.
Thought he was good. Hold up play was great. Four or five good defensive headers. Gets himself about much more than any of our other strikers. We need that work rate.
It’s worse than that. He has no idea what players fit into his system. Considering he thinks he’s reinventing football, he doesn’t have a clue who to put where. Ridiculous management
As I’ve said before Martin has achieved what his squad is expected to at every club he’s been at. I can see his style working if he was managing a better squad in the PL. He isn’t and he won’t adapt, whether this season puts off any clubs remains to be seen. Kompany had the bonus of being linked with Pep and most of the coaches/players who have worked with him have turned into good managers Martin worked with Dean Smith
This is exactly what I’ve been thinking. Is he hoping to showcase his talents and walk into a top flight job once he gets us relegated?
Perfectly summed up. When you start to criticise desire from the players in public you feel this is only going to end one way.
Our best performances this season were first 30 mins v Man U and second half Ipswich, that should tell him roughly who he needs to be starting. A return to Brentford away aint it. I have no idea why Lallana and Archer didnt start today.
Don't get me wrong, I thought he was alright. But I thought we'd signed a striker. He was constantly coming so deep, that yet again we had little threat up top.
Probably thought that is the only way to get a kick of the ball. Joking aside, I thought he showed glimpses
Pretty much yeah. He went from "the time for loyalty is over" to "we need to trust the guys from last season" in the space of 2 games.
Martin needed to come out and completely own the first half calamity tonight. Admit he got it completely wrong. He partly blamed himself but he also put plenty of blame on the players. It was an awful post match interview and has made things worse.
I don't know if it's been mentioned before but the Leicester game is now huge if RM doesn't get a positive result there do we wait until he fumbles around for the next massive relegation duels of Everton and Wolves? When do we say enough is enough of this ( failing ) experiment? For me I think he's a Pound-shop Pep but that's doing a disservice to Poundland etc
I do kind of see his point, if you were a new player coming into the side and see how stupid the set up and tactics are you probably are going to start asking questions/drop your enthusiasm levels and go into “self preservation”. The fact that the team from last year know how to play the style Martin is asking and we still looked largely ****e wouldn’t make me think “let’s just switch back to them”. I would probably be thinking how can we get more out of the players we signed who we clearly thought were better than what we had last season
