Oh as for fernandes red, thought it was quite harsh but hes a rat and the bigger dark arts whiner so pretty happy to laugh at him
Got a knock after about half an hour, but carried on til the break. Taken off as a precaution. He's said on social media that he's sure he'll be ok, but who knows if that means anything?
Really good performance yesterday, although United were so so bad. Can’t see ETH remaining in charge for much longer. They’ve spent fortunes and there’s been no progression whatsoever. The whole Spurs team were excellent, except for Werner who was fairly decent in the first half but really poor in the second. He’s had plenty of game time and chances now, including some opportunities he should have converted. With Moore getting 15 mins yesterday, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the start of Ange beginning to bring him into the fold, which is good news. - Even if it’s fan pressure that’s accelerated this, rather than Ange’s plan all along. A few of our players had drastically improved performances and looked backed to what they’re capable of. Shoutouts to Bentancur, and Spence in particular who seems to be really knuckling down and focusing on his football. And again, Johnson. What a great 10 days or so for him. Let’s hope this is a turning point and we’re going to begin to understand why we paid a fortune for him. COYS
I think Johnson has been helped enormously by having Kulusevski behind him. That right flank is starting to look so much stronger.
I’d imagine it’s a yes from anyone with half a brain cell. The bloke shouldn’t kick a ball in our shirt ever again, never should’ve kicked a ball for us in the first place.
I’m going against the grain here and actually thought Werner played well. Yes, he missed two golden opportunities but so did Solanke and Johnson and yet nobody is criticising them. Werner needs regular game time to build up his confidence but on the whole, his first half yesterday was okay. Not brilliant but he got himself into great positions, made a few good crosses and passes and if one of those opportunities went in, there would be a different narrative this morning.
What I find surprising is how posters manage to take a great victory where Spurs played some very exciting football and use it to rubbish one of our players. Are people only happy when finding fault with the team and manager. It must be sort of annoying for some with a performance like that spoiling their narrative that the manager is naive and we have no defence. I am sure many were just waiting for Werner to miss so they could justify their opinions of his abilities. It's not unusual for 1 to 1's with keepers to result in no goal but what will be a no goal is not getting into that position in the first place. Royal has gone, Dier has gone, whose next for the chopping block; and Werner it is.
He linked up well with Udogie in the first half, but was one of a number of players who ran out of steam in the second. I'd like to see him given another hour or so against Ferencvaros, maybe more depending on the fitness of other players. We need to rotate for a variety of reasons, but I don't want to see us burning anyone out.
