He was just trying to get any contact to bring Maddison down. I assume the red is given because the ref deems he was too far away to have any chance of control in the tackle.

Johnson needs to be careful. You know the ref will be desperate to even things up. You don’t want us down to 10 men as well as that will change the whole complexion of the game
It’s a bit of a rock and a hard place now. Ange’s style is to go for the second but that’s exactly what United will want, to try and hit us on the break, as that’s their best chance of scoring. Maybe a more pragmatic second half? I doubt it

1-0 HT. Totally dominant first 35 minutes, but we eased up a bit and they had a few glimpses. Last ten minutes fizzled out due to the Fernandes red and Mainoo's injury. Need to maintain our energy and pressure in the second half, take our chances and avoid any silliness. They'll be looking to equal things up numerically and we can't afford to get drawn into it.
