I have to laugh at folk claiming SE7 has spent serious money on the infrastructure of the club. We are still miles off promotion Charlie, my old bluffer, and most of the fanbase other than BB, Charles Hawtrey & Mundell knows it. Following the signings on short term deals of Potts & Hylton , my thoughts are that the “investment “ promised by Methven via forum pets didn’t materialise. Let’s be clear - Dubai, Swiz & Global. Most of the signings look an upgrade in quality , apart from Ahadme & Godden. Selling May was clearly a mistake. We lack creative quality, pace, width and crossing ability - these are recruitment failures this Summer. On the positive side, the defensive unit looks a lot better. A lesson here …one which recent history suggests he is unlikely to heed - is that Methven’s selective leaks to ramp up expectations, are counter productive.
Nothing more, nothing less. In no way was Ahadme a £1m signing - absolute baloney. I’d say our Summer net spend was lower than what Sandgaard used to waste.
I’m still of the opinion that they are just lenders and the smt have to manage the very tight budget. If they were investors we would surely have heard from them by now.
