Yes of course you can take purchased items on the plane, it wasn't purchased though but stolen. They use to be placed in a sealed bag with the reciept attached it. I've also known instances where it's handed to you on the plane, not in departures, again in the past. Not sure the procedures now but Sucky would have had no proof of purcahse if challenged,

Especially if they’re now writing paragraphs for headlines.

These are the rules I'm on about, this is from August 2023...

To bring duty-free alcohol into the plane cabin, the following criteria must be met:
    • It was purchased at an international airport duty-free shop, not domestically
    • The retailer seals the duty-free liquids in a tamper-evident bag
    • You have a receipt proving the purchase was made within the last 48 hours
    • The bag shows no signs of tampering when screened by the TSA
While you can now transport select duty-free alcohol sizes in a carry-on, drinking your duty-free liquor inflight still violates FAA regulations. Although you can carry it onboard, you cannot consume duty-free or any other alcohol unless served by the airline.

    Fair enough.

Can't say I've ever taken booze onto a plane as it is generally cheaper when you get to the other end, but didn't realise they sealed the bag, thought it was just in a bag.

Yeah it can be just in a bag, and they just staple the receipt to it. Although no idea what they do these days, been many years since i've bought duty free.

Down in Mendocio county now and found this great little seafood shack in the harbour at Fort Bragg

Battered shrimp, fries and a bowl of clam chowder for me

32oz cup of the local pils to wash it down.

no idea what that is in pints
