I used to miss…. Daft banter Golf all year round Good pubs / beer gardens Incredible countryside & history A proper roast lunch with trimmings & of course, live footie
And I forgot one! Indian restaurants. It wasn’t too bad when I lived in the Raleigh area but now living at the coast they are few and far between. We have two in Wilmington, they’re just ok, and we have a British meet-up there once a month, but still an hours drive away.

I wasn’t that far away from you at one point. I was with AMF(L) in Bulford between 85-89. I also spent a few days in Tidworth in the med centre there after totalling my car on the A303!
I cannot get peas pudding all the way over here in this country Wales either Mind I'm not a great fan of it anyways.
Been in Australia for about 9 month and TBH not missing much apart from a good boozer (you know the type pool table dart board and jukebox) no food apart from crisps peanuts and maybe toasties from last week lol. Ohh and a proper curry down Ocean Road.
Around 92 I worked with a bloke who was a lieutenant in the REME TA. He was always on my case to join . It was never for me but I asked him one day why the feck he kept pestering me to join He said because I was mechanically adept, had a hgv1 , up to ten ton forklift licence, crane licence etc etc. He said most would join just to get the licences etc.
To be honest I wanted to join the infantry but my dad wouldn’t sign the paperwork for me unless I went for a trade. So I did all the tests and they said I could be a vehicle mechanic. I’m guessing they had a quota to fill the week I was tested because I was a ****e one. I left 11 years later with a car and HGV3 licence and some City & Guilds.
I’ll check those out. I do make a pretty good curry, several types. Being a women I do 99% of the cooking, so I miss Indian restaurants/takeouts.
I taught at King George V school in South Shields for 4 years from 2003 to 2007, they're a strange but likable breed.
Is that the school at the top of King George Rd/Nevinson Ave. I went to that school…a little earlier than that it was just King George Comp then. All girl school.
