    BBC Football:

2222: Make no mistake people, that is a stunning result. Man Utd may have been under-strength, But with nine full internationals in their side they were still expected to wipe the floor with Crystal Palace. It means Manchester City, Liverpool, Cardiff City and Crystal Palace is your Carling Cup semi-final line-up - the draw for which is in just a momento...

I see your point JC but you were'nt exactly playing your 'C' team against a Prem side tonight.

The strength in depth of the Utd squad is not as good as fergie thinks.

This was a competitive game. Different, isn't it? So your manager stupidly fielded a weak team - doesn't mean you're exempt from a bit of derision.

love it when a shock happens..All the dickheads come out to tell us how crap we are.Fair play to Palace, they beat a 3rd rate United side fair an square, but the way some people are going on you'd think they wiped the floor with us and lifted the cup

Those nine "full internationals" include Lindegaard who was on the bench the whole game, Fabio and Smalling who have two caps each, Park and Berbatov who've retired from international duty, and Evans, Diouf and Gibson who are far from international regulars despite not playing for particularly good nations. And the Palace squad also included seven "full internationals", based on the same criteria (Price, Gardner, Dikgacoi, Easter, Parr, Iverson and Jedinak). I'm not sure on what basis the BBC commentators expected us to "wipe the floor" with Palace - maybe they fail to realise how good some of the Championship teams actually are?

    1. Rooney
    2. Hernandez
    3. Welbeck
    4. Berbatov
    5. Owen
    6. Macheda.

Thats third choice to me, if we were to play the usual two strikers. That side was third choice with the exeptions smalling (first team) Park and Valencia (second) Fabio, Rafael and Berbatov also played but didn't really last long enough to be blamed for defeat.

It was a very poor line up, simple as that.
