Absolutely buzzing tonight like a little kid! I posted on Facebook thanking Benno for allowing me to take the photo, he's only gone and shared it on his Facebook page!!!
Fine by me if Carrick deludes himself. Means they won’t get any better whereas Lebris looks for improvements even in victory.
Just had another read of this. Burnley, Shef und and Luton have just had a year in the premiership and collected around a £150 million each, they have a wage bill probably double ours and Burnley have had to sell most of their players. We are currently looking down on them. Am I missing something here?
Update. My 88 year old fella brandished his Sunday paper at me as I walked in. Shouted look, they are say Rigg will move to big clubs. Why cant they just stay in their club. I spent 5 mins calming him down and saying he loves us like old players used to. Then he saw the goal, smiled a massive grin which made my week, and said he wont stay with us, too good. Trevor Ford left us, they all bloody do. Owld sod he is, my Dad. But Trevor is his favourote all time, so I am so proud he thinks in that way. Hope I can keep showing him the emerhence of Rigg, what a star he is.
Last season 2 of the 3 promoted sides had parachute payments. The year before that 2 of the 3 promoted sides had parachute payments. The year before that 2 of the 3 did. This idea that us being above the teams with parachute payments after 12% of the season is “proof” that parachute payments aren’t an advantage in this division is absurd. All I am saying is that if you’re offered promotion, you take it. I’ll be cheering for the lads in the playoff final even when you’re secretly hoping we lose so that we can go up “when we’re ready”.
You don't get to choose when you get promoted. It's an absolute myth when people say things like 'got promoted at the wrong time' what does that even mean? Parachute payments help to secure the future of the club. Parachute payments allow you to outspend the rest of the championship on transfer fees and wages. The only way they become an issue is if the club is ran poorly and you become reliant on them, we are not ran poorly.
Exactly. Spend the money right and make sensible squad building decisions and they’re basically a super power in this division.
I've a fair amount of sympathy, and tolerance, for the 'get stuck in' supporters at the SOL. For decades the men from the shipyards, pits and docks would come to watch us do just that. Then, through various managers from Smith to Reid to Neil, it was basically the same. The Roker Roar was built on it and there were echoes of it yesterday. It's hard to recreate that or build a chant based on 'Well done Lads, keep the low block and allow them to have the ball' But that's where we are and we'll just have to learn. It's a bit different away because the supporters will cheer anything and sing anything just to give us the edge over their lot. Myself, and plenty more, hate some of the songs like 'My garden shed' and 'We're by far the greatest team' but we'll join in with absolutely anything if it drowns out the home support. I was looking forward to going to Watford but just gave my ticket away to someone who's flying in for the match without one ... he'd better be in good voice! If anyone sees a spare, let me know ... ... otherwise I'll save my money, after Portsmouth and Plymouth, ready for the Derby and Leeds games
How was Isidor when he came on? Heard a couple of mentions on the radio about his pace. Was he on the left or did they go with 2?
I can't be bothered with the premier league tbh. Every game we play in the championship is competitive but the premier is a closed shop. And we'd lose most weeks. What's the fun in that
Went to the right in place of Roberts, was always on for it and kept the ball quite well ... ... not effective going forward because we'd retreated by then but his height helped and he was clearly loving it all.
Brought on for Roberts and largely stayed on the right. Very lively, got stuck in and clearly skilful. He only played about 10 mins but was having a great time at the final whistle.
Just for fun I'm going to ask a version of this question after every game ... ... which Boro players would you take for our starting 11?
Correct, I was wrong, I can remember him being in a tussle with one of their players near the south Stand
Had a good couple of first touches but didn’t do much going forward. I really liked his enthusiasm in defence tho.
