I mean, I never said it had 100% fatality rate. I just said it has been known for internal organs to start shutting down if you go too hard for too long. Ask your missus what it's like with the postman.
I'd had a break for what is I think about six weeks, pre holiday and then during being away. A few niggles, mainly right shoulder, had put me off. Have been going back last week and this. Firstly, amazing how the strength goes. I'm not lifting heavy heavy anyway, but fairly decent amounts doing pretty much only compounds. Felt broken last week. Did deadlifts and squats on Wednesday, and only then as I knew I wasn't playing golf the weekend or I wouldn't have. I drove to Manchester on Friday and could barely get out of the car when I got there, I'd siezed up so much. Anyway, without waffling too much, completely agree that maintaining muscle strength is very, very important. And that's what I'll continue to do, and hour or so of mainly compound lifts, three times a week if I can, but usually two. Especially at our age @PISKIE , got to do this! Never had a beer belly BTW. Core strength is crucial. If I wasn't such a fat **** I'd be ripped.
Yeah I can’t remember the numbers but beyond the age of 35/40/50 etc. the % of muscle mass you lose naturally is pretty startling. Main thing is just doing something and not trying to be silly with it and getting hurt/over-training. Life’s too short to try and look like a roidhead but too long to be a fat **** for 40 years. Also stretching after at your age. I rarely do it now and will probably regret it some day. And a massage occasionally won’t hurt. Even better if you get ****ed off at the end.
Remind me what clenbuterol does. I remember it was a popular 'banned substance' in sport around the 90's.
It's essentially for asthma but it's great for burning fat. I tried it and stopped fairly quickly because my heart rate was scary.
Lost 6kg since August 1st...feeling a little proud ... still a lard arse but going in the right direction
In a fairly torturous deficit the last few days in an attempt to get lean for December before all the gluttony. Hadn’t benched the bar for a while so gave it a go and was quite happy with 130kg x 2. Couldn’t do 135. Get to 140 for Xmas when I’m three weeks into eating ****e.
Joined the university gym now I'm not working away for the foreseeable. Should really go today, but got a stinking cold and a very slight hangover after a **** night's sleep, so CBA. Will start back tomorrow. Need to go three times a week and shed some timber, have made a start by banning bread. Will walk the dog instead.
We did a project in Bath Uni few years back (where I bizarrely bumped into HIAG) and I joined their sports village gym, a twenty second walk from where I was staying, so went every evening. The views were ****ing spectacular! It was open to the public but there was none of the fat middle aged women clientele you get in local leisure centre and chain gyms.
