This is big one, so I suspect we'll see Newcastle's best performance so far this season. I don't know why, but Newcastle are incapable away from home and at home they'll give anyone a run for their money. I'm going to predict an away win, but this is a free hit vs possibly the best side in the world, so hopefully I'll be allowed to make it without being criticised for it. The past few months I've seen various players blamed and there's one player I think needs dropping and it's Gordon...he doesn't want to be at the club and you can see him sulking.. they should have sold him ! he did the same at Everton!..he can't help how he feels but his attitude is exactly what Everton fans were on about. If he plays he needs to sort his act out fast or like I say just let him go. Your thoughts ahead of this one?
I'd play Pope GK Tino RB Schar RCB Kelly LCB Hall LB Tonali RCM Bruno CM Joelinton LCM Gordon RW Barnes LW Isak ST We need Gordon to build a connection with Tino and Tonali In this game I've chosen Joelinton over Willock purely as against City we need his strength
I think you might be right about Burn being an issue. The problem you've got is that he won't be dropped under Howe. Newcastle are now being asked to dominate games and other sides just suck it up and destroy them on the counter. The next few games could see Howe under pressure. He's actively seen ripping up the jigsaw puzzle and scratching his head..he's failing to find the solution and the run of games until December isn't fortunate.
We will lose. We did put them out the league cup at home last season, but we were awful in the first half of that game, plus that was without Rodri and Haaland, and they don't lose with them playing. Every team loses to City, no biggie.
There's at least 8 better sides this season so you might get 12th anyway mate. I agree though go all out for a cup and who cares about the league.
I'm making an allowance for the likes of Fulham, Brentford and Forest and maybe other clubs. Anything can happen if injuries add to the issues we've currently got.
I have seen nothing whatsoever from Hall to show he’s a competent left back. There’s a player in him somewhere, but certainly not full back.
Literally every position on the pitch is being signted as the issue, but it's the cb position that's the main issue. They can chop of change the other positions all day long but if Burns being dragged around and schars going wandering around or if they hide on the edge of the box then everything else in front of them has no chance. They're all over the shop.
For the record, "all over the shop" means in 6th place, and could have been top of the league had we won yesterday.
We're looking at performances. The league position is false at this stage and it'll likely settle into mid table and below over the next few games if you look at the fixtures. Regardless like I say there's issues and people are sighting them rather than ignoring them and just pointing at a table after 5 games.
No the league position isn't false, it literally reflects exact facts, ie the results we have got. As ever, your evidence rests on things that haven't happened yet rather than actuals facts.
No it doesn't tell you everything about performances and not every club has played eachother even once yet. If you can't see the issues and are looking purely at that table them I don't know what else to say. Perhaps nows the time to remember that you owe me your username and avy because of the same conversation last season when you insisted Newcastle would finish 5th... incidentally you were saying it's too early to judge the table. Come on mate you know fine well the sides got issues and isn't playing well.
Hang on, that's all you were doing last night, repeatedly going on about 4th and 7th. I'm not going to get into this, as you just said Forest, Brentford and Fulham would finish above us, apparently West Ham are "cooking", and the brief moment Everton went 2-0 up against Bournemouth before losing, they were going to finish above us too. It's too ludicrous to debate tbh
