We deserved that result well balanced from front to back . I think Boro aren't too far away either, they remind me of us last season where we could dominate games but couldn't find the net and just passed for passing sake and build up play to slow .
If Hume should've gone so should Lath. Goodman, for the first yellow, claimed 'he didn't see O'Nien coming but was half pulling out anyway' ... ... you can't have it both ways ffs Don Hume went for the ball, not the man ... ... Martinez on the other hand https://x.com/i/status/1837551049328009388
The team spirit has been excellent in the main for four seasons now. There’s been other (minor I’d say) issues in that time but we’ve had a good group, full of good characters/people that in the main all get on, like it here and care about the club. Even in the second half of last season. A million miles from what went before particularly in those back to back relegation seasons.
It was a back heel!!!!!!!! I’m in the North Stand and was straight out after the match yesterday - only just catching up now and didn’t realise he back heeled it in, utterly stupendous. How audacious. 17 years old, in a derby!! I’m pretty sure no one around me realised it was a back heel…maybe it was just me. Jobe utterly unbelievable too yesterday. At 18 years old.
Tone was set from kick off where we let their centre half have the ball and didn't close him down. We just sat in a really solid shape and he didn't have a clue what to do. Special mention to Mayenda, he worked his bollocks off again and I really like the look of him, he might not score 30 goals a season, but he will chip in goals as well as helping us keep our defensive shape without the ball.
It's a complicated one imo. Like you, I thought he got a touch on the ball which lessens the call for a red! It's under the rules for excessive force that Hume is on dangerous ground. The freeze frame shows that the Boro player could have had his leg broken on another occasion - Hume's weight hits the lad's planted lower leg. **** it though. Boro got off lightly on yellow cards and the challenge on Mundle looks more of a penalty every time I watch it.
Is there a better Midfield outside the Premier league than our right now. Jobe, Rigg, Neil.... with Brown, Samed and Aouchiche waiting their turn...I'm thinking not,
I had Hume yellow on my bet builder and it felt like it had been a while since we’d seen a ‘Trai signature move’ so I loved it. Huuuuuuuuuuuuuume! It was a penalty on Mundle. Ref was a ****ing fanny.
Booking Henderson for stating the obvious, honestly they’re pathetic at times. The same punishment as Martinez’s shocking tackle.
I had us to win, Hume and ayling to be carded 30/1. Cant believe he didn’t give the pen against Ayling!
I always felt like we were trying to get the ball in the box in those times, but Boro were just passing it for the sake of passing. It's as if Carrick insists on a certain number of passes and won't change from his "style" Boro could have caused us problems had they gone a bit more direct at times
Mate, mine was a sickener. Trai yellow Mundle shot on target. Sunderland half time full time Morris 2 + fouls Latte Lath shot on target (lost on this) Was 73/1. Wounder.
Question...If the tackle on Rigg at Plymouth was a penalty then why did yesterday's Ref fail to give us 3. All we ask is that Refs show consistency so everybody knows what is and isn't a penalty challenge in the box. All 3 would have drawn a free kick elsewhere on the pitch.
Jack is pretty strong too mind. I had a player say to me that Clarke is pound for pound by far the strongest player at the club (deceptively so) and that was when Batth and Stewart etc were still here.
I havn't been on the boro forum, but there are not too many complaints from the boro fans ( other than Carrick and his tactics) not about the result. A big thanks to Regis for getting the tactics spot on and tgetting he best out of all our players. A definite reaction to the Plymouth game from all the players. Hope we can keep this up. Hopefully we will have a better idea by the end of Oct when more plays come into the fold and hopefully no bad injuries.
Not sure Aouchiche is waiting his turn mind. Well out the reckoning. It’s hard to criticise anything at the minute but I do wish Le Bris would keep Ba and Aouchiche more involved/engaged. At least until January. I do like them both as players mind so I am bias. Having said that, I’m loving the demonstration of pathway with the inclusion of Ogosunyi, Watson and Jones on the bench (as long as there’s a willingness to use them too).
