On a side note; went down early for HT beer for me & son - my turn - he watches last few mins from terrace. Got to front of a rather confusing queue, to be told I couldn’t order 2 pints without the other being there!!! OMFG!! They are getting things right with Fanzones but do they shoot themselves in the foot. Went outside & they didn’t apply same rules!
Dont agree, defensively he was much the better player, doesn't offer much going forward tho which is where kwp excels
Yeah nah. Taylor's useful in the air. Made a couple of good defensive headers. But Ipswich were getting too much joy down his side in the 2nd half. He's decent, but no KWP.
It seemed the like the referee was equally frustrating to home and away fans alike. Impressive. 32 fouls, split equally across both sides, and yet the game was by no means dirty. So many of those "fouls" were nothing at all.
The issue - The game was refereed by a bloke who referee's in the Championship most of the time with the odd PL game thrown in. He refereed like he would do in the Championship which, to be fair to him, is only natural. It's especially irritating when our best referee is stood on the touchline twiddling his thumbs.
I was Chapel last season It was a bit livelier in the early part of season in the Chapel Itchen corner but it tailed off in the new year. And obviously the club have (wrongly imo) encouraged all those people to the Northam.
Nice to hear that tbh. I plan on ****ing off for a bit once nipper grown up so maybe I'll feel the same after some time away.
Agree with all those Ryan shouldn’t be starting anymore, but we are a bit short on the left, so only other option is BBD, but he does add some height and grit up front Taylor did ok and certainly plenty of effort from him CBs were decent 2nd half, couldn’t see how they did 1st, too far away
The acoustics of St Marys must be a bit off, I was in Chapel last season and found Northam to be completely silent most of the time from there although i'd usually hear Itchen North and the away fans. Now i'm in Kingsland and the new Northam seemed pretty damn good today to me, I have barely heard any away fans all season.
I don't agree that we're short on options on the left (arguably only at CB do we have more options), but maybe there's an argument that we're short on quality on the left (and again maybe that applies to CB too). So far we've started BBD and Fraser, and both have been poor. But there are other players too. If we want to play a traditional winger, then give Cornet a go. If we want someone to cut inside onto their right foot (which we seem to want from BBD), then maybe give KWP a go. Sure, it'll be a very, very different position for him, but he's a better ball carrier than BBD. I'd rather KWP cutting inside as a LW rather than as a LB. And whilst I know he has very few fans, there's also Sulemana. I still think (hope?) that at PL level he might find more space in behind than in the Championship.
It was, but the bunch that moved up to the top of Chapel have now been vacuumed back into the new Northam.
Just watched the goals back. I saw the equaliser got a deflection at the game but couldn’t tell how much it impacted the flight of the ball. Annoyingly looked like it was going straight at Ramsdale who I’m confident would have saved it, but for the deflection. Bloody typical.
It’s not the acoustics, been a season ticket holder in the chapel for years and have heard away fans and the Northam home support come across much louder than they have in our opening games. Think the issue is as Libby describes, the fans clearly aren’t singing the same songs or those songs are out of sync. Therefore they’re almost fighting against each other. for example when Dibling came off, one section was singing Dibling baby and the other he’s one of our own. Consequently oh when the saints is the only song which ever gets full traction round the stadium.
I think you are right re clashing singing, but there was no doubt about volume from where I was sat, it clearly wasn't travelling to the Chapel if people were not hearing it there because it was loud where I was sat. Tbf it probably takes more than 3 home games to get used to a total change of arrangement, it has improved game on game imo.
Think your hope is a bit misguided there! I'd be amazed if he ever played for us again, to be honest. Similar to Paul & ABK, they'll just be here to break open in case of emergency till January. He certainly shouldn't be getting gametime over SAA
