Part of the reason for ceasefire being broken on numerous occasions was the hatred between Pro Russian Ukrainian and Pro Nazi Ukrainians.

You need to stop looking at Ukraine like its full of Ewoks.

It makes you look foolish and is turning you into a bit of a warmonger

The Russians already had a massive naval base at Sebastipol and an agreement with Ukraine that it would remain as long as the Russians wanted it to so there was never a need to annex the whole of the region. There would never have been a chance of the US being allowed a base in that area even if the Ukraine became a member on NATO.

You're just blowing bubbles now mate.

    The difference here is this:

If Putin withdrew today, apologised and paid reparations I'd be fine with that. I'd also be fine if the war stopped and negotiations began.

Toby needs Putin to lose either by the first option or by hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians dying in the process

    Toby is a progressive <laugh>

You're being quite nieve. NATO would never move east remember. I'm sure Russia would totally trust NATO on that too.

I want them to stop killing each other immediately

I never said NATO would never move east. They have been moving East since the break up of the Soviet Union.

I'm saying they would never have a Naval base in the Crimea. Why the fùck would they want to, right next to Russia's largest naval base in a region crawling with Russian agents? The agreement the Ukranians made with Russia would have prevented such a move anyway.

Putin's insistence that he moved into the Ukraine to help Russian speaking natives from tyranny doesn't wash when you see that every major city in the East of the country has been laid waste by the Russian airstrikes.

At least when the Nazis did it in the Sutendland they left it mostly habitable and the people pretty much unhurt.

Putin's a great guy but. Just less affective than Hitler.

You seem to be forgetting that any agreements made were with a government that was just overthrown in a Nato backed coup

The reason Putin first annexed Crimea and then invaded Ukraine is pretty simple. Ukraine has massive oil and Gas reserves especially of the coast of Crimea. A simple smash and grab nothing more nothing less.

Putin thought he'd just send the troops in and the Ukraine would fold like a pack of cards(That's for Eddie)

    He was wrong.

Two years on, he's still wrong.

    Even wronger than wrong.

The agreement was in place since the 1990s and predated the previous government.

I'm not sure what you mean by a Nato backed coup. If you mean Yanakovich, he was ousted after causing mass demonstrations by the people of Ukraine because they thought him a Russian puppet. Was it Nato that forced those people onto the streets?

I'm pretty sure a lot of them died during the demonstrations. Nato's fault no doubt.

You've zero input, at least Aldo does.

I'll take you back to Georgia

When a western coup arrived there, Putin found some independent types, supported them and created a buffer zone. It successfully remains.

    Donbas was the same idea

    He got that wrong

    The West got Putin wrong

The world has changed and not in a good way

    Well done guys
