City goalles draw at home psg sneak a 1-0 win at home dortmund get comfortable win and Celtic smash a **** team. One benefit to teams like celtic that may fancy winning 3 of their home games especially against the **** teams.
Apparently some of the more draconian punishments being considered for Man City include making them play home games at Goodison Park.
I see brest are beating sturm Graz as well. This is thr thing about this cl. I "think" both are no hoped to get to last 32 but here is an example of a side beating their 4th seed opponent and making the other higher seeded club have to have some more results.
another interesting thing could be the likes of Celtic who could easily sneak into the last 16 and then hope to do enough at home to make the KO stages
Said yesterday teams like celtic will hope to sneak a win against seed 3 and 2 at home and beat seed 4s home and away for 12 points and then get couple draws to try get 13/14 points which gets you to playoffs
I can't make up my mind on whether or not I like this format. It can make for more interesting and varied games in the league stage, but as some have mentioned it might get some of the "lesser" teams through to the 16. Although that seems reasonable on the face of it, it might make for some more one-sided games in the knockout phases with the presence of sides that would have been eliminated in the old system. It could also give a relatively easy route to the final for some big guns if they get favourable draws. Will have to wait and see.
The new format, initially at least, gives us a vested interest in all matches. Any draws, for instance, are particularly beneficial. However, the fact that only 12 teams get knocked out means it'll probably become a bit boring at the back end of it
I think the jeopardy has been removed. Last season utd were out in the groups. In this format they would have a couple more crap teams to play to bring thst 4 points from 6 games up to 9 to have a shot. 24 out of 36 qualify so you have to do less in real terms (9 points out of 6 games was the aim, now it's the same from 8) I feel there will be a few very one sided games in this format I just feel there won't be a massive shocker here and we will he wondering was it worth 8 games to end up where we do.
100% it’s designed to get more of the bigger teams into the later rounds and stop shocks. It’s funny that they’ve essentially just built what everyone hated in the super league. It’s just the fact it’s done by UEFA and not a new organisation that people haven’t got bat **** about. Thing people hates about super league was it was designed to get big clubs to play each other more and stop smaller clubs professing. That’s exactly what uefa have done here… gauranteed 2 huge games per top seed and 2 very big ones per 2nd seed while also making it so much harder for seeds 3 and 4 to progress
