Oh bloody hell....another maestro bites the dust! RIP Herbie!
His collaboration discography is an A-Z of top popular music. An amazing career.
Never realised he was 86!! <yikes>

After the news of Herbie Flowers passing, I did a bit of research. The Damned famously toured with T Rex, shortly before Bolan's death. Herbie Flowers was the bassist on that tour and along with the boys, was known to enjoy a drink. Dave had given previous interviews saying that Herbie and the drummer fitted in better with them than with Bolan himself. Captain has said that they mocked Bolan a little behind his back and Flowers had taught the then Damned bassist how to play 'Walk on the Wildside'.

It seems that he was a good egg...and wrote 'Grandad' to boot.

P.s. whilst researching this, I came across an interview with Captain where he says that Morrissey was a big fan of the boys. I don't think that I knew that...or maybe I'm just too old to remember...?

Still better value than a £350 Oasis ticket

Dave Grohl has cheated on his 2nd wife. He got divorced from the 1st wife because he cheated on her, too.
This is somehow supposed to be a surprise.

Expecting fidelity in a marriage to a rock 'n' roll star, who spends months at a time away from home, is probably a bit optimistic.

lf he was doing it whilst at home, he's got no excuse or anywhere to hide. What happens 'on the road' probably should stay on the road...but, Dave...stick a condom on it, FFS!!!

I suspect that this will lead to more stories, as he's got a reputation for this **** already.
Nobody would care if it wasn't for his Nicest Man In Rock schtick.

I'd forgotten about that. Neither Nirvana, nor Foo Fighters are really my thing. I can listen to them, but choose not to.

I know a number of 'nice blokes' who could cheat on their wives as a profession. A couple of them act as if it was their duty to do it and have no conscience about so doing. It takes all sorts to make this world...

He's far from the worst, to be fair, even if his two ex-wives might suggest otherwise. (And yes, alright, I am on my 3rd too, so I might not be so objective! <laugh>)
I think after 30+ years in the Biz, if that's the worst of his misdemeanors then he's still a helluva lot less morally corrupt than most Politicians I can name. :emoticon-0148-yes:

He also allegedly cheated on Veruca Salt's Louise Post between marriages! <laugh>
It was with Winona Ryder, so both Johnny Depp and Keanu Reeves will be devastated.

If all he's done is shagging around, then that's well ahead of most other musicians.
Given the **** that some of his contemporaries have been accused of recently he's doing alright.

"Assault" seems a little strong for that temper tantrum, but it just looked embarrassing. You're a pensioner, FFS. Give it a rest.

I thought that he must have passed on years and years ago, but RIP Kenneth Cope, or Marty Hopkirk, as he shall 'live on forever more' in my brain. I ****ing loved that show back when it first aired. Recently, I re-watched every episode and I loved it still...

...for those gentlemen of a certain age, Jeannie Hopkirk (or Annette Andre) is alive, well and lives in New York.

Loved that show. It was on ITV if I remember correctly. And yes, Jeannie was an added bonus! <laugh>

So, it seems that Sunday afternoon is the new Saturday night...and Mrs B and yours truly are off to The Half Moon in Putney to celebrate the 60th birthday of our lovely mate Richie (former front man of 53rd & 3rd) and the gentlest and loveliest soul you could imagine. I have coined this celebration "Hey-Ho, 6 0"

    His mates are playing...

...and these fine fellas, who I doubt have a Scooby as to who Richie is, but seem like lots of fun.

All in all, I'm looking forward to it more than today's game...and yes, Luke, we're all old, but still living the life we love.

Talking of Sunday afternoons...well Sunday evening to be exact...if Spurs depress me further on Saturday, then at least I have a ticket for 10CC at the Cork Opera House to look forward to. (Thanks to the missus :emoticon-0148-yes: )
Only Graham Gouldman remains from the original band, but he has great guys around him and they were one of my all-time favourite bands.
Last saw them at the Fairfield Halls in the early '80's after the split from Godley & Creme, but when Eric Stewart was still on lead vocals, guitar and piano. How time passes....<yikes>

I’m not old yet, thank you!
But it is surreal that punk - the music of rebellious youth - is now associated with old codgers.
But the youth today are so staid and boring. It’s like the ‘50s before Elvis, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran etc. We need punk rock more than ever

I nearly spat out my Horlicks...<laugh>
