Unbeaten in 1 Saturday sees the visit of Ipswich Town to the south coast for what already is looking like an absolutely huge game for both teams. I'm generally not a fan of labelling games so early as a must win but I think from Martin's point of view this is as close as you can get to one for the 5th game of the season. McKenna got the better of him twice last season and he can't afford for that to happen here with two tough away games following this one. Need much better support from the fans than we've seen in the two games so far. Need to roar the lads on to 3 points. Could do with another one of these tbh... UTFS
This will be my first game of the season. Am expecting nothing but heartache, disappointment and loss; and I’m generally an optimist where Saints are concerned. Or I used to be.
“Unbeaten in 1” Welcome to a very small club. Hopefully you will now go on a Loading type run. I think we can do well, if we pick positive players that will move the ball forward. Would a midfield of Downes, Lallana and Fernandes be too lightweight, in terms of winning the ball back? Despite the result last night the stats said that we had no clear cut chances, so I guess the goal we scored was considered to be a half chance, but highlights that we aren’t creating enough.
Fully expecting a Forest like performance after playing well for the first 30 mins against Utd 1-0 Ipswich
If we don't win this Martin will be under massive pressure, no two ways about it. We simply have to play with a positive mindset.
You'd fear for us if we lose this....I'm going for a 2-1 come from behind win with a late Bednarek header and all will be right with the world
As long as we have over 70% possession I will be happy. Dibling needs to be dropped until he learns to stop taking players on and pass backwards.
Saturday 21st September 2024 - St. Mary's Stadium, Southampton 15:00 KO Southampton v ipswich Referee: Sam Allison. Assistants: Scott Ledger, Mat Wilkes. Fourth official: Anthony Taylor. VAR: Jarred Gillett. Assistant VAR: James Mainwaring.
Ipswich have managed to get a couple of good points on the board, especially away at Brighton. McKenna is happy to adjust styles for games and has taken to the PL quicker than Martin so far They should beat us, maybe the pens have given us a boost but I won’t hold my breath
