Just a question syd do you think if Walter had the squad he has now on the 1st July, so a good two months of drilling them in how he wants to play and sorting out his best 11, we would be doing a bit better a lot better or just the same ??
It's only been 12 games if you've got an axe to grind. More or less the same isn't the same is it. Those that played together last season (the defence) are clearly struggling to be more adventurous. Greaves is gone as well who was outstanding. Those that came in, most of them haven't had 100 minutes yet, with 4 still registering zero. If I could be bothered I'd look at all mins played by new signings and give you an average but it won't make a blind bit of difference as your mind is made up already and there won't be any hearing it.
I'm not convinced one way or another to be honest. I look at the players he has had since 1st July - Coyle, Jones, McLoughlin, Giles, Pandur, Omur, Slater, Simons, etc. and I don't see any of them being confident in what they're being asked to do, or enjoying what they're being asked to do, or doing anything particularly good. Coyle's goal, for instance, seemed less Coyle following any instructions and just him going 'Well sod it I'm going to try and score here because we're chasing the game'. Same as when Jarvo came on and won us the pen against Bristol City with his ball into the area, he seemed to achieve that through his individual flair/dare to take the game on, not some instruction from Walter. I haven't seen any attacking play that I can recognise as "Yeah ok that was really well worked and I can see what we're trying to do here". Our best play seems to have come by chance from Bedia or Mehlem creating a bit of space or winning a 50/50 and the game opening up.
Thankfully Transfermarket does the work for you: Mehlem - 513' Millar - 409' Bedia - 207' Burns - 147' Zambrano - 136' Burtsow - 95' Drameh - 69' Belloumi - 68' Kamara - 45' Palmer - 34' So between the ten new signings who have played, an average of 172' a player, so close to two full games each. The top three are telling though as Mehlem, Millar and Bedia have played a pretty solid chunk of minutes now, and are three of our most attacking players. They've played 3-4 full games on average between them. Funnily enough Palmer has probably looked one of the best of them and he's played the least! In fact the bottom four for minutes have probably looked the most promising!
We'll since you asked Yes I think we'd be doing a lot better probably. However, he didn't so we are were we are. If my Aunty had bollocks she'd be my Uncle as they say. I'd give him until the end of November to get us to mid-table with signs of progress on the "process". I'd also quietly start drawing up a list of replacements so if its still going tits up we could get someone in quickly and give them a few weeks to access the squad before the transfer window opens. I am really rooting for him to come good I'd love to see us scoring a shed load of goals and ripping things ups
I am sure Acun and the 'brain-team' have a fall back plan regarding a replacement manager. I have a feeling they are watching the Cardiff situation with some interest.
Come give us pelters or add your voice to the discussion via the chat, we're always happy to listen to and consider alternate points of view. Going live in about 5.
I wouldn't be too sure. They only started to look for managers after sacking Rosie and didn't have a clue who to interview until one of Acun's mates who was an ex player said that Walter was good.
I’d definitely agree for Bristol. I do think we fall into the category of a lot of what you’re talking about though. In similar fashion to last season we get in the areas and **** it up.
Not sure about that, there was plenty of talk that Acun had someone lined up and on top of that he said himself on may 8th that they already had 15 applications. There was plenty of choice but Acun seemed to have made his mind up early.
You've made that up (the in bold bit). He didn't say those things. In fact he very clearly said there were things to improve.
Id be happy if walter turns it around I want us to have stability and not have a 5th manager in less than 3 years But we need results Lets get a win at the orcs In it together
I don't believe that for one minute. And odd then that Walter's name was bandied about by some almost from the off.
