Yeah 4 I think is reasonable with one you have to decide before the first practice session of the season( who will win the championship maybe??). The other 3 are in season markets.
This betting game was run very successfully on Muzz606, although sadly it foundered when the person running it decided to leave the site. As far as I remember, it allowed a player to choose from all of the bookies and their odds, listed from one site. (Unfortunately I do not remember which site it was!). The game required a player to clearly state the following: Time and date of each and every bet (especially if players use the same post over and over again) Bookie of their choice (so long as listed in the chosen site) Odds £ Stake It was a lot of fun before it collapsed, which I am sure would not happen here with several volunteers running it, rather than one person who appeared to lose interest - which allowed the whole thing to fall apart. (This is a vague memory and if any members of that forum are looking in, I mean nothing personal here and accept that I may have recounted some events wrongly). One of the vital aspects of the game was that once the outcome of a bet was known, each player's running total was updated, to show the amount of 'virtual money' left with which to bet. No restrictions were put upon a player to use his/her money as they chose and this did not cause any problem - other than for a player who lost all! Whilst it existed, it was very popular. I am sure it would be met with similar enthusiasm to Genji's sweepstakes, which was a lot of fun here (especially for lucky old me!).
As long as its kept to a finite number of variables it'll be fine. We have a while to get it all worked out anyway
True gambler mentality but rare gambler pragmatism! - Such was the fate of several ambitious players on the other site; but the possibility of it only added to the fun!
I think the maximum of three bets per race is a good idea, stop it getting too out of hand. I don't think the number of markets is too much hassle because they'll be pulled straight from a betting website, it's easy to just screengrab them, like this: please log in to view this image If you limit the markets too much every will end up using their three bets on the same things, so it basically becomes another prediction league rather than requiring tactical betting nous. Another rule I think we should have is that bets have to be submitted in pound integers (i.e. £1, £5, £18) to stop people betting ridiculous numbers like £1.37 and making the maths unnecessarily complicated.
The Silver Baron and his counterpart Nico are on par at 50/1, maybe because there is nothing really between them after the 2011 season. Could go either way next year. I agree with Abs here, set amounts of money will work best, a max and a min amount should also be specified. Also people should not be able to change their amount after they place them.
You could start the season bets immediately after the last winter test, then close them a week before the race when we open race bets?
I don't think there's a need for a maximum limit. Minimum will have to be £1. Of course. Once you submit it it's final, that's the way it is with the bookies. Maybe open the season bets up again in the four week break if people haven't used their full quota?
Well there are months to go until its really required to place any bets, so I'm not going to enter this for the fact to keep it as small as possible and that it is able to continue easily. Though it could be a good idea to have a few pundits maybe, give their view on who will win etc, like from me maybe as I won the Driver selection championship etc, cosicave is very experienced in Motorsport personally and maybe somebody completely random and being the Richard Hammond of the group You would get 3 different views and reasons why they are selecting certain drivers!
