When you watch the replay of Leclerc and Perez coming down the straight , Perez should have gone on the inside , there was room and it would have forced LeClerc wide and Perez would have got ahead into second, then he wouldn’t have been hit by Sainz.

Well, I quite enjoyed that race, a decent dive bomb for the lead, a challenge that lasted pretty much to the end, and some great performances from the rookies. Both incidents were 50/50 imo.

Does anyone know what happened when Max pitted? The onscreen display showed him in the pits, then the crash happened and all of a sudden Max was in 5th!
Did he just drive through the pits or did he put on new boots?

Just watching the replay and Carlos did move over to the left and Perez just maintained his position. I think it's 65% Carlos and 35% Perez as he could have avoided it and potentially gained 3rd back.

He put on new boots, but the SC was out so he only moved up because Sainz & Perez DNF and Alonso had to obey the VSC so couldn't catch him.

Maccas top of constructors now by 20 and imo canter away.

Gap in the drivers is 60. It should be less than 50.

A dnf is needed or at least the red bull out of the points in Singapore.

    Should be half that honestly.

10 Points lost to poor strategy in Silverstone
8 Points lost to fluffing the start in Spa
7 Points lost to the start / team orders in Hungary
10 Points lost to fluffing the start in Monza.
Somewhere between 3 and 13 lost to the yellow flags yesterday.
and of course 25 lost in Austria to the crash

Lando could be leading by now, if it wasn't for some calamity befalling almost every weekend.

Piastri has had it worse than Norris imo, been given some really **** strategy calls.

Yeah all the way back, bar of course robbing piastri where he'd no right to it and the team would have done over their own man who has now paid them back with a super race win.

That lunge where he went the wrong side of the brat was his own fault and a massive part of this lead now.

The teams strategy has been consistently poor. Not Ferrari bad but just too conservative and not driving the agenda

He can win this but only with a massively failing verstappen being nowhere. He needs piastri to be his rear gunner or pull over and let him win now and if he took the 7 points and completing a childish screw job then he wouldn't have it.

Right now we need to see red bull absolutely sliding down the table. A couple dnfs or a really bad quali or two to take him out of the picture. Singapore could be just that.

It seems that several drivers are under investigation fir passing under vsc

The race was over but the vsc was not.

So the brat and a few others passed cars like they normally might in a clear track scenario. I presume this will be a slap on wrist and clarification.

However there may have been Marshalls in track at the accident, hence the vsc.

Mclaren under investigation for being in the pit lane too much faking stops. Again so what?

Probably a sore ferrari complaint put in.

Not usually a huge fan of this race, but I enjoyed this edition, with the shifting performance dynamic across the tyres between Ferrari and McLaren being key. After all the team order chat, it was ironic that Norris holding Perez up mid race was probably crucial in setting up the victory. Piastri’s pass of Leclerc was exceptionally well judged and then his defence was perfectly managed.

I see Perez and Sainz has been judged no fault. I’ll have to go back and watch it again - in the moment I felt Sainz had drifted into Perez, but perhaps that was influenced by sadness that Perez’s return to form went unrewarded. For sure it wasn’t a huge clash, but two cars touching wheels under power will always magnify the effects.

Another good race from Bearman, with some highlights behind the headline numbers and the experience will help his prep for next year. Colapinto after two races looks fast but raw, it’s a shame there’s no obvious seat for him next year, but maybe Sauber/Audi could do worse than take a chance on him?
