it'l be interesting to see what budget barmby gets in january. wonder who does the scouting side of things now shakespeare has gone with np. be nice if we could get mannone on a perm now hes asked to leave arsenal, id like to see olifinjana get fit and come into the team to offer us a bit of stability in the air defending and attacking corners seems this is our weakness at the moment. decent striker too and were good to go.
I wonder if that will change if we are outside the play offs by some margin come January? If we were in, I could see it as leverage, well off the pace and I can see the purse shrinking somewhat!!
are we assuming mr barmby went on some scouting missions while pearson was here or not? wondering if anyone at Bristol City who Mr Wigley might be able to help sell hull to? whoever does sign will give an indication of the type of player barmby and his assistant can attract to the club and which areas he believes we are weakest in.
Dont get tickler started on the Wigley-Bristol City link, he'll be here in a minute saying we're signing Nicky Maynard
my lips are sealed on that one. we shall have to be patient. but from what nicky barmby has said (fridays look north) then players and agents are ringing him. no scouting needed.
NB should provide us with good links to his former clubs; Leeds aside I think he was very highly thought of at Everton, Liverpool and Spurs so that could help.
Pretty much everyone who he worked with at those clubs will e gone now, so the only ones who will be bothered about that is the fans. Nevermind the clubs he played at, Nick will have a lot if good contacts in the game and is well liked by many. Can't wait to see who he goes for.
Well I would have thought that a goalkeeper wouldn't far from the top of the wishlist, Manonne (didn't even play in the league cup last night) would be ideal, but I also rate Luke Steele at Barnsley. As for strikers, I was thinking (and I'll probably get my head bitten off for this) of Liam Hearn at Grimsby. He has a fantastic goalscoring record at non league level and at 25 is hardly past his prime. Wouldn't cost an awful lot (think he cost Grimsby £40,000) and he already has 15 goals in all competitions this season. If not him then Tarmo Kink at Middlesbrough or Benik Afobe from Arsenal.
luke steele is a good shout wonder what his price tag is though, id like somebody to come in in a similar role to what shakespeare did for pearson seemed a tried and trusted method with good results.
Luke Steele was one of the players that all the Premier League managers were supposed to have come to watch when they played us.
well of the 3 being watched (steele - butterfield and chester) he was the one who stood out the most. but i dont think any PL team is that much in need of a goalkeeper ? most have GK they want rid of. i agree Steele is a good shout for City.
