According to Hull fans on Twitter, the fee for Burstow is £1.5m The football genius Thomas Ballsack negotiated a deal that saw us get a % of the profit on what Chelsea paid us for MB at the time - as he hasn’t been a success and there is no profit, we therefore stand to receive nothing. The fee we received at the time for MB was reported at around £1.3m.
They can never have enough. However much they make they'll always want more. Ripping off loyal fans is the norm, and it's not just at the top level either.
I enjoy watching Premier League football but I agree that fans are being ripped off. My Nephew is a Chelsea fan and my mate is a Spurs fan. They both pay four figures before the decimal point for their season tickets. The Spurs one is £1426 the Chelsea one is £1015. It is no longer a working class game. The food and drink are also prohibitively expensive.
Premier League football ceased being for the working class 20 years ago. When I started going in the late 70's you could relate to players, I used to live about 5 doors away from Richie Bowman in Lee. Nowadays players will not even give you an autograph.
I don't watch any Premier League football. I would rather watch a kids game in my local park, and that's the truth. The whole concept of elite football beloved by Arsene Wenger is purely aimed at armchair fans. Cloughie said that live football on telly would kill the game and for me he was almost 100% right. For real fans like us who support our local team there is still that passion, but not beyond that.
But it hasn’t killed the game, most Premiership grounds are full. Record audiences around the World watch Premiership football on the TV. What it has done is ruin the game for lots of the poorer working class people who can’t afford the prices.

Well if it’s zero then you’ll be in I agree. It’s filtering down. Just look at our eye watering walk up prices. Jeez
Well that wraps it up for the top leagues in England & Scotland. 14th September 2024. Man City have bought the Prem. Celtic have won the SPL. I wouldn't be surprised if City win all 38 of their PL games and finish the season with 114 points. Maybe that would wake up a few people to what a farce the Premier League now is. Already the only point of interest remaining in the top half of the Prem is who'll get the 4th Champion's League place
Sadly, Wrexham and Birmingham City have already bought the automatic promotion spots in League One. It'll be a miracle if they do not finish 1st and 2nd. But there will be a big tussle for the play-off places - and a day of glory at Wemberlee. At the moment we're right in the mix, if dark horses.
Some people have been saying the Premier League is boring this season Too right. Seven or eight games still to play, and The Title is decided All three relegation places are decided The only thing left to squabble over is who finishes 4th and 5th. And frankly, who cares? The Prem is Too structured Too formulaic Too mired in rules that simply guarantee the elite remain elite, untouchable. Ruined by VAR. So expensive that real fans are giving up going to watch their teams. Let them all go to Europe if they want. The Championship should take over as England's top league.
It's the so-called champions league that has created the "elite" teams therefore "elite" players who go where the money is. You could go even further and blame the power of the armchair fans. there a lot of them.
I hear now that Leeds are thinking of sacking their gaffer. That's fine thanks, for what he has achieved. The owners are so terrified of the possibility of getting relegated next season, they are ready to try of a safer pair of hands. Imagine if Charlton had done that in 2000. "Thanks Alan, but you got us relegated last time we were up, so clear your desk son". If Leeds owners are already browning their trousers about Premier League failure, they will fulfill their own fears. And in the end of course, it's only the money they care about. One season up = hardly any net profit once all your piled up old debts are paid off. Two or three seasons up =
