I think Walter's appointment is an example of just how much Rosenior's style pissed him off. I'm sure there are plenty of managers out there who occupy the middle ground between the two!

True. They lost a couple of star players...ie the guy who bailed out to Marseille and who is now at Everton...Didn't replace him. ....A top 6 side maybe, but no chance of autos on that evidence. They'll play far better than they did last night and lose games. Sadly, that's how $hite we were.
Completely agree, went in to most games last season thinking we can get something out of it and played some fantastic football at times and dominated games, I had no issue with the way we played under Liam
By Rosenior’s standards we dominated the game yesterday.
He just needs to remain out of discussions now as we’d be seeing the same issues goal scoring wise now as we did with him
I'm happy not to see him mentioned again but it's typically those defending the decision i.e. anti-Rosenior-ites who are bringing him up to compare points totals.
One of the problems we have is too big a squad surely. We’ve two players for each position with no real obvious main player and understudy in many of the positions.

Agree though. We've gone from a big squad under Shota to trimming it down under LR to ballooning it out again with no clear plan or identification of a best XI. I said this the other week and acknowledged it's a symptom of having to bring in an entirely new squad - i.e. you're signing players even though you know they won't play most games - but it does feel a weird position to be in.
I think the logic of appointing Walter is clear and has been commented on by others before. Acun wants more exciting football than under Rosenior, but beyond that, appointing someone that was in the 'middle ground' would mean we were pretty much like many others (average). Acun and the Brains Trust see Walter as potentially giving us a competitive advantage by bringing something different. Only TWT of course, but the logic seems pretty clear.

Have you honestly been more excited by the style of play? Forget results, forget goals, but the fundamental style of play that Walter says he is happy with, are you more entertained by it?

This is a constant gripe of mine. We had it under Rosenior. 3 times we broke through with men running into good positions early on. What did they do? The cynical fouls and took bookings

I am. When we do actually beat the press we move the ball a lot quicker and are able to open teams up. We’re also quicker on the counter. There were several examples in the first half last night. In one case, Pandur had the ball, Jones rotated into midfield and received it from Pandur to play a first-touch pass to Ömür who carried the ball into loads of space, played it to Kamara on the left who attempted a cut-back to Bedia to what would’ve been a tap-in but the final ball by Kamara was poor and was blocked for a corner. It went from Pandur to winning a corner from a good opportunity in about 10-15 seconds. Another passage of play in the first half saw Mehlem run with the ball with three City players ahead of him making clever runs but he took too long to pass and got tackled.
Contrary to what a lot of people have been saying, I think we did execute the style better and we are getting into good positions but the final ball is so piss-poor and ultimately, that is down to the players.
When everyone knows where the opposition goals are going to come from then it's time to change something, regardless of dedication to his style. What is it with modern managers being inflexible? You'd think it would be the opposite!
I am, not by much mind you but I like what we're trying to do in the final third much more. Shame about the 1st two thirds at the moment.
Same result as LR at the moment in terms of success in our attacks (generalising the problems here, clearly LR and our old players had successes at times) but the main difference for me is that we used to patiently pass around waiting for the perfect opportunity until the ball reached a less composed player, the fans groaned and a wasteful pass/cross would ensue.
Now there's far more intent to get it in to dangerous areas much quicker but the quality has been lacking. I think there's a bit of a confidence issue too which if fixed probably brings about a bit of luck that we could really use right now.
