Pretty good result that. Watson is really giving himself a shot at being the backup left winger, he was excellent again. Poveda carries the ball well but his final product and decision making can improve. Bennette was pretty decent at left back. Bell impressive. Rusyn just doesn't do it for me, I understand him needing minutes but I really disagree that it should be to the detriment of Ogunsuyi. Trey shouldn't be losing out on key development minutes because our 25 year old striker isn't good enough for the first team.
Yeah Watson was brilliant. Developing at a very rapid pace. Being a winger, he can get away with turning the ball over a little bit more. I wouldn't mind seeing him get 10-15 mins of senior action from time to time.
Was impressed with Bell last season and he seems to have continued it this season. I kept bigging him up to my son all game tonight - definitely one to keep an eye on imo.
On Lenz; I liked the look of the lad, but he wasn't great last night! Looked a bit knackered I thought. My mate said he's had two concussions since joining the club. Like to see how he does when he settles, thought it was weird because in the last couple of games we have seemed off balance in midfield, last night we had three solid lads in there, think it was a tad lopsided in the other direction.
That Blondie is a cracking comedian. Some of our lads love a tackle, great to see. Jewi looks to be the first team back up left back at this rate! I agree with sentiments saying he isn't a winger at this level, he's too one dimensional and not clever enough to make it work. He'd be very stupid to not think about wing back as his new position, but his eagerness to stop forward on attacks was very stubborn, thought he defended well when 1v1. Many might say otherwise, but I think under this lot, Rusyn is comfortably our worst signing. I don't see how he could ever play wide when hes so scared of the ball and beating his man. He was a total mistep of a signing when we were crying out for a big target man type. Think Hemir was meant to be that... Harrison Jones doesn't stop does he? Some engine on him, reminds me physically of Dean Whitehead, think he's got a future in the leagues he just needs to fill out and maintain consistency. Caden Kelly's pass was wonderful. Watson like a cheat code down the left.
Actually a great bloke to have at the club. As you say really bright and sharp but also England caps in recent memory which of course inspires the young lads. Good part of the setup, which is really doing fantastic work now with Rigg, Dan and Watson just the top of iceberg.
Lenz has looked good every time I’ve seen him, bar last night, when he looked a bit jaded returning from injury
First time in my lifetime where it feels like we have a raft of u21s with a real chance of making it here.
