Story on the BBC site about the 'soaring cost' of the bearskin caps used in the uniform of the King's Guards

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gly3l8y45o

Apparently they are still made from real bearskin and cost over £2k a pop ...

Difficult to think that with the science and technology available today, nobody can come up with a cheaper synthetic alternative... but apparently not...

Yeah looks like PETA have raised the issue, watched a few of their videos around the cruelty to animals, but you are right as are they, there has to be cheaper alternatives and if it saves an animals life, why not.

Heart warming to see a crisis diverted in that moment and in such a subtle and caring way.

I had some faith in insurance companies recovered recently

For the last twenty years so I have been with Churchill and they cover both cars and the house as that gives discounts

Last month I received a letter regarding the home insurance stating they had made an error in their calculations and refunded the equivalent of a moths premium despite reducing the cost of cover the year before

Then a coupler of days ago I received another letter this time regarding my car insurance stating that they had made a miscalculation and I was due a refund despite my insurance not going up this year when I was expecting it to increase by about 20%, the refund was the equivalent of 11 months premiums and they stated if I was not happy I could query it

Obviously;y I did not query it just in case

So one the one hand how did they miscalculate the premiums but one the other hand they apologised and refunded me

I knew you would all be pleased for me
