I don't think this is confirmed. All the Carabao cup fixtures are currently scheduled for that day but at least 4 of them are actually the following week. I guess we are waiting for TV picks.
Spence and Reguilon have been left out of the Europa squad. No surprise about the latter, but I would have thought that the formers apparent adaptability - and being totally unknown on the European level - might have got him a ticket. Also slightly concerned that the omission might affect his mindset, having just been brought back into the first team fold and working hard to get back into Anges thoughts.
This has been discussed in the UEFA thread...the only plausible places Spence could have are in place of Forster or Werner.
As I still can't find that thread ... WTF does Ange think he needs 4 keepers when generally one and occasionally two will suffice? Not getting into 'Ange out' territory, but this seems a ludicrous decision which will weaken the EL squad and undermine the confidence of a young player he should be trying to boost.
We need Austin and Whiteman in the squad to maximise the number of players we can name in the squad, as per UEFA regs
He could have left out Vicario or Forster but that would also weaken the squad substantially and we should probably be trying to win the Europa.
The weird thing is we can name three...but can't name Luca Gunter as one as he's on the U21 list, hence Austin & Whiteman (which the more I say it, the more it sounds like a 70s private eye show) I get that the rules are in place to stop clubs naming the first four youth players they can remember the names of in order to give lip service to complying with the regs, but on the other hand it does look ridiculous when you have Lamine Yamal who has been at Barca since he was 7, broke into their first team aged 16...and still won't qualify as CG until the 2028-9 season
If naming Forster in the squad is the difference between us winning or losing the Europa League then I think we've probably got bigger problems!! (No offence to Fraser of course )
TBF Forster is reportedly one of the dressing room leaders and a big voice on the training pitch, so it makes sense to include him
Wasn't sure where to post this or how accurate it is, so I'll chuck it here: please log in to view this image Everton and Southampton seem to be getting shafted, to me.
Southampton are still on Championship level figures. I guess it depends on when contracts were signed, length and clauses etc. Everton just can't make a sensible decision. I'm more intrigued by the gap between us and the top 4. It's important to see the difference in Nike's valuations of us and Liverpool, and take that difference seriously. We're big. We're not at their level yet.
You've gotta laugh at how badly the Spanners are doing. Just imagine how poor they'd be as a club if they actually had to pay full price for their stadium!
