Me neither - and the replay only looked level with the stumps, certainly not clearly in front. But there was no argument, so maybe my post-cataract op eyesight isn't as good as I thought!
J He must be kicking himself for the dismissal, nailed on for a double century the way that the pitch was playing
Cricket loves it's statistics Gus Atkinson has more hundreds at Lords than Tendulker and more 5-fers at Lords than Shane Warne
Rooooooooot Hundred in each innings, most runs at Lords, most hundreds at Lords, most hundreds for England
And now he’s become the first Englishman to 200 catches (non-wicketkeeper), 10 behind overall record holder Rahul Dravid
It’s been sunny all day - temp around 25/77 degrees Yet half a day’s play at the Oval Those who were questioning whether there should be Tests in Manchester because “it always rains” need a reality check. Playing cricket in Northern Europe is always going to be a battle with the weather. We don’t have great weather whether it’s Manchester or London, a mere 200 miles south. They could a) get on with it under floodlights, b) use a pink ball when it gets darker (as per day/night Tests) and c) protect the playing surfaces better to ensure that as soon as the rain stops, the game can restart
The stroke that Lawrence just played to get out reminds me of the one that I played against my mates 8yr old when he bowled me last weekend in the park with a 6ft run up and a tennis ball, in my mind it was going for 6 in truth it took out my middle stump
England calling time on the summer Tests too early. Very casual with bat, ball and in the field. From 211-3 at the start of play yesterday, they’ve been very poor. With more focus and application, they should have got 400 in the first innings and bowled them out for under 200. Then it’s a different game.
At elite level in any sport, if you lose impetus and focus it's very difficult to get it back. England's batting with the exception of Smith in that 2nd innings was amateur hour. Now SL are wrapping this up double quick and it looks like a different pitch to play on.
