I'd rather have seen a wonderfully worked team goal than a 'hit and hope' effort go in ... ... if it hadn't I think we'd have won the game.
Aye they were toast mate; fresh out of ideas. Lads were immense that day in a game we could easily have lost 5-0. Many were predicting the most one sided final they’d seen. Was disappointment but full of pride on the way out and afterwards.
Travelled down for the final with my dad, no match tickets as it still to this day the only season in about 25 years I didn't get a season card...never made that mistake again! I remember afterwards watching all the Sunderland fans celebrating like we had won while numerous City fans just acted like it was another standard game. That massively changed my opinion on them. Train back was like a constant party in between the coaches from our lot.
In an odd way, a hit and hope goal shows how well we played. They’d tried pretty football all game but were getting nowhere until then
Reading through some cracking posts on here. @Smug in Boots when you poster about the WhatsApp group, mental. I mean, techno, every goal is avoidable. If defender x stands in y position etc. if keeper dives earlier. But to Go To The extreme of saying the Pompey player held back is ridiculous!! Good riddance to them mate. We don’t have many like that on here (I know there’s Monty… - kidding btw, even Monty has been positive this season!)
It's a shame because I used to travel with the lad in the 70's, lost touch over the years then 'found him' online recently. Sadly he reminded me of why I used to argue with him back then ... ... 'couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo', was his favourite line, for any misplaced shot, and still using that same line today
Kompany actually made a game changing challenge on Borini just before HT to stop it going to 2-0 to us iirc.
Aye, remember that now. Could have been a different story if Borini got himself between Kompany and the ball - didn't and left the door open a bit. Positioned himself differently and it was penalty / red card territory.
What happened to the high press yesterday? Really hope the international break hasn’t killed momentum.
