I thought the game went as most expected today regarding the outcome - and Doncaster rightly take their place at the top of the table. That sees us drop to fourth but certainly not out, today we were up against the early automatic promotion contenders and I'd be surprised if they are not still in the top three come the end of the season.

As for the Gills, I felt the second half was better, but in the first our luck finally run out, Donny had an earlier couple of chances so we knew it was coming. In the first 15 mins of the second half we came out more of a threat, and nearing the end of the game I felt we really could snatch something here. So it's hopeful when players come back from injury that we can continue to challenge at the top.

As for MOM, I really can't decide, so I'm going to go with my first thoughts right now...

    1. Morris, the score could have been so much worse in the first half
    2. Ogie, I thought he was trying to get the players to be a bit more energetic and instill some pace in the team without much success, but he tried, if we had ten Ogie's we could have won today, sadly we haven't got ten Ogie's and the intensity was lacking.
    3. M Clark, I've given it to Hutton before, so going to give it to Max this time

Anyhow I've got a question now, H Webster was in the line up for the Posh midweek game, but wasn't even on the bench for this game, anyone know why?

Can only have 7 subs and Giles is ahead of him in defense as can play full back and central defense. Only other option was Gbode and if we were losing could come on either wing or striker. Chances will be even more limited once we have more players injury free. So will only play in the cup then probably loaned out to non league

    1. O'gie
    2. Little - but needs to learn to 'offload' quicker !
    3. Grant McCann - seemed to put more 'animation' than some of the Gills squad.

In truth, Doncaster didn't have to 'try' too hard after taking the lead.........Gills created nothing meaningful - even wasting 3 set pieces (vastly overhit corners.)
Clarke is a waste -- how on Earth does he start ahead of J. Williams ? ...Clark hasn't impressed me (this season or last. ) - He gets beaten, too easily, by opposing winger - which is why he must feel the need to 'stand off' a couple of yards --- but -- all that does is give room for crosses (( not sure how Chesterfield failed to score from crosses that were not cut out. ))
I don't doubt that when the missing 3, 4 or 5 return, we'll be much better - so - I am prepared to be patient for a little longer (( above the 60 years so far !! ))

Yeah I use to think Jayden was ok, but now I don't know what's happened to him. Maybe being on the subs bench brings the better side out of him.

    1. Ogie
    2. Morris
    3. Little

Generally disappointing performance, carried very little threat even with 4 up front at the end. Wasn't that impressed with Doncaster either if I am honest, they are supposed to be one of the best teams in the division, but whilst Morris was the busier keeper by far, the Gills played our 4th Choice CB ( with a fractured wrist) and our best strikers are coming back from injury, and we were still competitive. Hopefully another weeks training will see Nevitt and Andrews closer to a full return, and obvs Ehmer will be back and hopefully Mackenzie too.
