It is everywhere isnt it. Go out for a meal and kids are on ipads or phones at the table 'to keep them quiet'. Get on a train and kids are on phones or ipads 'to keep them quiet'. As you say we would be out dawn till dusk playing footy, climbing trees, riding around on our bikes, spying on women in their gardens (maybe that was just me) yet now the kids seem to be walking around in packs dressed like they want to belong on a council estate in Hackney, vaping, and generally just being anti-social.

Waiters used to wear ties, have a french accent and call you 'sir'. Now it's all t-shirts, sleeve tattoos and 'what can I get you guys?'.

There used to be just one joke concerning restaurants ("Waiter, there's a fly in my soup").

    Nowadays, there are probably several.

Biggest problem , I see what you did there

But in what way does that impact the cost of leisure ? Are you saying they eat too much and you
can't afford to take them out for a meal ?

I’ll add my opinion on the previous debate.

    1. Tip 10% if someone comes to your table, and takes your order, and brings your food and brings you more booze when you need it etc. If they do a good job of course.
    2. Don’t tip if you have to get up and walk to the bar and get stuff to carry back yourself. ****ing baffling in US when they expect it at a till in a take away place…it’s stupid.
    3. Don’t get excited if they’ve added a 10% tip automatically. It save doing maths and makes the it easy using a card. Obviously take it off if the service was **** but don’t take it off to make some type of statement…no one cares and you look daft.
    4. Drink tequila. It’s nice. I drank tequila with @FER ARK last Friday. It was nice. Have it on its own with ice, or in a margarita. Don’t slam
It with salt and lime…you’re not 13!
    5. £17 for a tequila might be expensive, it might not be. Depends what it is and how big it is.
    6. Use East Riding or Hull gyms to do exercise. I mean I don’t…but you lot need it!

I do agree with some of your points about the importance of getting outside and being active.

However your good points are peppered with nonsense.

I’m sure some kids might be on iPads to keep them quiet, but some are on iPads so that they are able to mentally regulate enough to be in a public space in the first place.
Guess what…they’re the kids you didn’t happen to see in public spaces when you were growing up so assume didn’t exist.

Much smaller point, and a little tongue in cheek, but the kids on trains using iPads etc are probably doing it due to the lack of trees and space for riding bikes and playing football on trains!

Ha ha, every generation likes to talk younger generations down to make themselves feel better and pretend that the world isn't moving on without them.

A large percentage of adults spend 7-8 hours in front of a screen at work, come home and watch sport/series and then scroll on phones. There's always been teenage gangs walking around causing problems. Some ppl have got more obese and more sedentary due to the reasons well documented, but on the other hand, many are fitter and healthier than ever, living fulfilling and aktiv lives - the number of sports and activities available to do is higher than ever. Can't remember many in their 40s-60s running, cycling, doing triathlons, going to gyms etc when I was young and it was fairly common for someone in their 40s to have a heart attack due to smoking and other lifestyle issues.

I've no idea what has caused the increase in diagnosis of autism and ADHD over the last couple of decades. The numbers diagnosed was rising from the 1980s, through the 1990s to the 2000s, well before smartphones and tablets were available. From my understanding, there are usually signs/symptoms of autism/adhd long before the children begin using screens anyway, so not sure that they're a cause.

Kids are generally obese due to **** parenting. FACT.

That and the lack of trees on trains.

Some of the people that say there was no ADHD back in the day, also celebrate and venerate the lads that used to stuff bog roll down train toilets, smash coach windows and get arrested for pointless match day fighting.

I don't have any numbers, Chazz. Just my opinion, which I'm open to change/recant if proven wrong.

I do know the autism diagnosis was quite strict early 2000’s then was relaxed quite a bit
And the nhs was getting extra money for diagnosis and the numbers escalated rapidly.

also due to the nhs been overwhelmed with requests for adhd diagnosis that psychiatry uk do them and again numbers increased rapidly and it’s not a rigorous assessment Think it’s by phone or teams consultation

To be honest, you know a more about it than me. From what I understand, boys are much more likely to be diagnosed than girls with autism and ADHD - this would, in theory, imply that these two disorders are not caused by vaccines, food, tablets/smartphones or climbing trees on trains because these things are equally distributed between genders.

Anything which doctors get paid more for diagnosing and the numbers supposedly suffering from those things increases.
