Couldn't afford to - the new fuel cap alone is going to cost me £115. I hate to think what new headlights will set me back...

That is a bonkers price for a fuel cap, unless you are driving a RR.

I think the fuel cap might well set off the engine light which is an automatic fail. I believe that it’s a common fail, the fuel cap. The last sentence is very odd, isn’t it?

Sorry to be stupid, but why is that? Can you not get a generic one?

That's what the garage quoted - I may have to check it by the sounds of it.
Certainly not a RR - Suzuki Ignus.

They seem to be about a tenner on eBay.

I tend to just go with the flow - and I suspect that the garage would be charging me for a second MOT

No charge for second MOT. I would buyone on ebay, fit it, then ask them to put it in again.

Greetings from Northumberland. Staying in Edinburgh, day trip to Lindisfarne, Alnwick Castle and Coldstream. Very low cloud, not much more than 100m visibility, if that! Still quite warm. Have a good day everyone!

Rain forecast for here in the afternoon, so made an early start on what I hoped would be like the two sides of the Channel Tunnel meeting. I was faced on the green lane with 10 metres of brambles, black thorn and nettles 3 metres high, that prevented me reaching the field from one end of the lane. I now have a passage through, just wide enough for a person to get through, so now I must widen it to allow the mower to get into the field. At one time the quad bikes would use the lane, and cut back some of the growth, which was a help, even if the ruts they created made grass cutting difficult. Their rides stopped for the first six months of the year because of the constant rain, which is the reason I didn't keep on top of things, and the quad bikes haven't returned.
So back for refreshment, and a look at the météo. No rain is expected for the next hour, and the sun should appear this evening.

I wouldn't recommend you come any further north - it's wet, miserable and single-digit weather here. I can't even get my dog to go outside...

We're trapped in the Jolly Judge! It's cool and misty. Waiting on a pal before staggering on down the hill to the hotel.

Can't see across the bridge over Waverley Station. The obelisk is hidden.

Pub of the Year for the last two years - if you have to be trapped somewhere, you won't find anywhere better...

Don't we know. I stumbled across it on a recce on our first evening. Other places haven't come up to the mark. Not even close.

I'm up in Newcastle for the weekend. Escaped the family mayhem and found a very nice craft beer pub <cool>

I'm responsible for finding where to eat tonight, thought a beer or 3 would help with the inspiration

That'll be on the list for next time! I went to the Head of Steam, live music and very nice beer. Can't complain tbh.
