In reference to my post earlier this week, again, what the **** is it with us and cards? We really aren't a dirty team and the refs consistently treat us like thugs.

Brady got a straight red today for one tackle, how many disgusting tackles do we see on our players at the KC and it'd never happen in our favour but surprise surprise one bad (maybe) tackle from a City player and he's off.

We're losing players every match, we've hardly got anyone to pick from now it's just getting silly.

Just seen it, did go in hard but he got to the ball, at worst a yellow, Southampton player going down like he did was why ref sent him off. Should be rescinded upon appeal.

Commentry said he went over the ball as well but they wanted to see it again to be sure (probably too busy looking at the pie menu for the press box after the game). Can't say for myself until I see a replay, but if he did it doesn't matter that he got the ball.

In terms of cards in general, the opposition have seemed to get away with murder at times, but equally just off the top of my head there's one of McLean's yellow cards where I'd have given a straight red for the secondary action, and one of McKenna's tackles that was a freekick that I'd have at least booked him for because he wasn't in control. Plus the tackle on Saturday that Wallace got booked for was ridiculous, the fact that when the free kick was given the fans thought it was against us says how little a foul/booking that one was.

Agreed, Brady got the ball, we should definitely appeal that.

After seeing the highlights I saw him go through the man to get the ball. And just at your comments regarding Harding, he's only returned tonight from a pretty bad injury so the tackle didn't do him any good <ok>

As a fellow Saints fan I disagree with you completely mate. He definitely played the ball first and in my opinion it was a hard honest tackle. A red for that is a joke.

It looks like it's going to be appealed.

Unfortunately it would need the authorities to admit that a referee made a wrong decision.
As we know, all referees are infallible.
So think it will be a waste of time.

When I keep bringing this point up, I'm not just talking about one incident in particular but the general consistency of cards being awarded overall this season. I've seen countless times at the KC in particular this year (but also one by Snodgrass at Elland Road) that were awful, awful challenges but I never expected to see the player get sent off because it seems they want to be as kind as possible when it's against us, which would be fine it there were the same standards for us, but yet as soon as one of our players makes one bad (maybe) tackle it's a straight red. You have to feel like the refs are just waiting to book our players. Rosenior is our latest victim, on 4 yellow cards and will probably get the 5th soon, he seems to get booked nearly every game for being fouled himself.

If we were a dirty team I honestly wouldn't complain. If we relied on aerial battles or massive strikers there'd at least be some reasoning to giving loads of cards against us, but we are without exception the softest and most technical side* in the league. They are also 100% honest players, you never see a city player rolling on the floor do you? They are all model professionals. If anything refs should be biased towards us because our players make their job very easy!

*By this I mean our entire game plan is good football and we don't do anything else. Southampton are a very good side obviously but they have two massive strikers to aim at and get a lot of balls in the box (and I'm not saying that's a bad thing, just that it is more physical than us). I'm not saying we're the best, but that our play is more on the floor and good football than anyone else and we don't mess about trying to con the refs or anything.

Definitely wasn't a red, poor decision.Good team Hull, was very impressed by your movement and sharp passing, just lucky our defence was quite tight because on another day you would of won or at least got a point. In my opinion you are the best side we have played at st marys this season.

Just reading another thread has reminded me of something else form last night's game. I haven't seen the incident yet but from the radio commentary what I gather is this:

Cairney was took out by their 'keeper when through on goal, outside the area. The fact it was outside the area makes it more annoying because we only got a free kick for it (obviously), so the goalscoring opportunity was completely taken away from us unfairly. The keeper got booked, which suggests the ref wanted to keep players on the pitch and not throw silly cards about, which is a good thing if it works both ways...

I don't think I need to finish this point off.

The more I think about this the more it pisses me off, we get such a raw deal when it comes to cards.

I'm sorry but i don't agree with that,Davis wasn't the last man and the player was going away from goal,no way was it a red,i think most neutrals would say that too.

Radio Blunderside said earlier this evening that no appeal was being made.

It sounded like Nicky planned to appeal after the game, but when I saw no announcement on it, I assuming it probably wasn't going to happen.

The way he's been playing, it no great loss.

I haven't seen it, but I can't really picture a situation in my head where the 'keeper fouls someone outside the area (i.e more than 18 yards away from his goal) and that isn't a clear goalscoring opportunity for the attacker in question. If the goal being completely empty isn't a goalscoring opportunity then what is?
