Yeah and I’m saying I disagree with the statement that Sunderland are “dismantling the championship”. It’s way too early to come up with that sort of prognosis.
I've just left a Sunderland WhatsApp group I've been on for years. One of the lads kept trotting out reasons why every one of our goals could've been prevented. When Mundle scored the third he claimed the Pompey player held back, because he felt he was tackling a child, and allowed Rigg to win the ball. I really can't be arsed with shyte like that ... ... you just can't reason with him, it's automatic criticism and he sticks to it.
If we lose 4 in a row it doesn’t mean everything’s a disaster and I wouldn’t expect it to lead to “RLB out” and “Sunderland are heading for relegation” videos. all I’m saying is 4 games is just too early, too small a sample size, to talk about dismantling the championship. Likewise it’s too early for teams doing poorly to think they’re going to have a bad season. We can and should enjoy it whilst it lasts, but that doesn’t mean that I have to agree with hyperbole.
None of us are talking about dismantling the Championship. What we are saying is it’s a real shame to see fans trying to cheapen it by saying there’s been mitigation for every win.
I know mate but none of us are saying that, it's some kid 'broadcasting' to a few hundred bored people.
yeh I haven’t said that. We’ve earned every win and deserve to be top with 4 wins from 4. I was simply commenting on the title of the video (and others I’ve seen) being hyperbole, and people have responded to me calling me up on it. It’s in the same way if we’d lost 4 everyone would be calling for calm and saying it’s a long season.
yeh I’m not saying anyone here is saying it, I’ve only commented on what that kid (and other kids) are saying. People have called me out on it. Not accusing anyone here. Accusing those saying the hyperbole.
Exactly and now 'we haven't been tested' despite two long away games, one against a team that finished higher than us, and a relegated PL team who are favourites to go straight back up. Incidentally Burnley are above Boro yet it's being claimed they'll give us more of a test. I understand caution, I just feel there's sometimes positive discrimination against our achievements.
Aye absolutely mate. 10 game rule innit. That said, we well ahead. Before a ball was kicked at Cardiff most said draw good result. Many thought Sheff Wed better than us. Almost all Burnley. So, from that, 4-5 points would be a good return. We have 12 (and a very winnable next game) Sometimes you just gotta enjoy the moment.
I understand that mate, just responding that what people think is absolutely irrelevant ... ... I honestly don't care if it's totally negative or totally positive, my opinion is all that counts.
I did like the bit about Mayenda having one of the highest XG's. Shows the lad has that instinct of being in the right position and if he carries on doing that then more goals will come. Either from him or from his 2 attempts on goal that resulted in the own goal and Browne's against Portsmouth. His assist to Mundle for his goal was also perfect as well. The kids doing canny.
Loving all of the attention we are getting, but until we have played 10 games you can’t really assess where the season is going. Get to 22 points from the first 10 games and we are in the race for top spot, so that is 10 more points from the next 6 games. Get more than that and we can really start to believe all of the hype. In the meantime let’s just enjoy the football. One question, we all loved the Tony Mowbray quick passing game , it this current style of play even more entertaining?
This is much better than under Mowbray imo, although we scored some great goals, plus we had Amad. At the moment we're controlling games and beating teams with methodical tactics ... ... it feels much more likely to last so is more exciting for that. With Mowbray the next game was unpredictable, this seems like we're going to Plymouth with a plan.
It's more entertaining for me because not only are we playing free-flowing football going forward, but we don't look to be troubled at all at the back. I never felt secure under Mowbray, even though we were a joy to watch offensively.
Enjoy it yes absolutely but I'd highly caution against deeply ingesting that we're the Man City of the Championship, we will lose games this season, maybe even multiple on the bounce, take a few heavy batterings, we will have poor performances, again enjoy it but don't let the highs get so high that you're not conditioned for any knocks we take. Finally enjoy it. And one last time, enjoy it.
Same to you you miserable get, why cant people enjoy it without people like you jumping up and down asking us to be cautious? Bollocks, if we get beat of Plymouth tough ****e, I am living for the moment
