Nothing certain, but it at least makes it a possibility. But same as you, just going to sit back and enjoy this season. It's going to be a fun one for sure.
In the olden days, 1986, we went down to Plymouth with an older fella called Jimmy Seed behind the wheel, he wasn't a regular but had a nice big car and liked driving. As I often used to do I'd written to the Plymouth club secretary claiming Home Park would be the 92nd League ground for us. And as usual they wrote back with free tickets, exec bar passes and an invitation to the club. When we arrived at 1pm they gave us all carrier bags with programmes, scarves, ties, badges, etc. So we had out photos taken, for their next programme, and went into the free bar then out to the posh seats. By half time we'd found our way through to the away end and we battered Plymouth, winning 4-2. At the end of the game we went back in the exec bar 'just for one' but had a few at which point we realised Jimmy had been keeping pace. To cut a long story short it was pissing down, and pitch dark, as we left and we only made it a few miles along the A38 before Jimmy lost control on a bend at 80mph. We did a 360 spin then half way round again before coming to a rest facing oncoming traffic in the gloom He just said 'no bother lads' I'll just spin it round and crack on'!!! The rest of the long journey was in almost total silence until we got to Mansfield and Jimmy stopped at an off licence, 'Just nipping in for a few cans lads' .... ... we fell about laughing and were still laughing when he came back with his carrier bag
Remember that game. The away end was open and as you say it was pissing down. Having gone from 2-0 up to 2-2 and then 3-2 up the home stewards walking around the touchline in heavy duty raincoats with hoods up looking at us as if we were mad and shaking their heads as we were singing "Just singing in the rain were happy again".We were living just south of Bristol at the time so didn't have too far to go to get home.
Jobe def shouldnt be getting dropped, been our best CM this season. Seems like people still judging him on last season, if he had just signed in the summer and played like he has the last 4 games then noone would be saying he should be dropped Depending how the boys feel after international football i wouldnt be changing things. Im one of Neils biggest fans but i think all 3 of rigg jobe n browne deserve to start
Think people being so overwhelmingly enamoured by Rigg is allowing Jobe to fly under the radar somewhat. Good after the scrutiny he faced last year I think.
Both are unreal prospects, jobe has been so good this season Browne is the most likely to drop out for neil, n browne has been class both games for us Cracking problems to have
I'd agree, if Neil wasn't captain. Because of that I'd think he'll go straight back into the starting 11. Probably at Browne's expense. But RLB might prove me wrong
If we act like a competent club, I'm sure we can limit the damage! Keep signing lads who want to be here, don't overstretch for bad personalities. Sell the right amount at the right time.
I know your statement is broad and not aimed at me, but I have to say... The situation is, ideally, no one will be dropped, but I pondered the idea that if Neil comes in, Jobe should come out based off of expected game time on internationals PLUS his age. Its a very dependent condition. He was very poor at times last season and was certainly overplayed, but he found his way through it like I hoped and has come on brilliantly this year with a competent coach. Chinese whispers didnt help mind.
That’s being kind. It was like playing with 10 men some games - a complete waste of a shirt Hopefully he can keep his current form up though, like a completely different player and seems a lot more settled.
Personally speaking, I wouldn't be surprised if either Rigg and Jobe are rested at times, maybe not for this game but during the season mainly due to the fact of their age so that they are not overplayed
He def needs rested this season but it's still early on in the season n he's been class He doesn't deserve to be dropped based on form this season
Same, I think we stick with the same team if they are all fully fit Having Samed and Neil on the bench shows the depth of our CM
Obviously not ‘the’ Jimmy Seed that SAFC let go just after he returned from WW1. Related maybe? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Seed
There's also a 'crime & punishment' aspect to consider in my opinion and possibly RLB's. If Neil is suspended, needlessly, then just comes straight back in for his replacement, who played equally as well, that hardly seems fair. It might just make Neil reflect, that as captain, he should perhaps think twice ... ... without an adequate replacement we might've dropped three points at Portsmouth. Fortunately for us we did, perhaps not quite so fortunate for Neil though.
There's a real possibility our start to the season has pushed me over the edge mentally. I'm sitting here planning the Plymouth match and actually Googled flights to Cherbourg and the ferry to Plymouth
Haha It's a ****ing nightmare for us fans think I'm gona drive down and stay the night. Not sure it's Friday or Saturday to stay down or maybe both yet. Decisions Decisions.
At the moment I'll fly to Bristol on Friday night and stay there, train to Plymouth on Saturday and stay there ... ... then fly home on Sunday. But that could all change
It's the hype, we've always been the poorly ran club, someone said Everton are the new Sunderland. Now we've got random ****ers on Twitter, Tik Tok and YouTube, as well as podcasts, tele and radio...they're all raving about us and our start! Just hope we haven't got too carried away and this is a flash in the pan! Thats the pessimist seeping out...I can't believe we aren't capable of something g wonderful this season! The stars have aligned! Mayenda hasn't got a 10 million pound striker on his case when he has a bad game, Mundle's backed a brace on the back of us losing our best player, Rigg is starting to look the goods, Roberts is back to form, Cirkin is fit...Jobe has grown under the gaffer, we've stocked up at centre back, centre mid and even the forwards look strong! This is something special. Here's hoping...
