This week we've had both Ticketmaster/Oasis critised for the price gig tickets and dynamic pricing. Then today Aston Villa critised for the price of their Champions League home games. A month a go I went to Larkins on Newland Avenue and paid £19 for two fresh oranges and a vegetarian burger. I know we've had high inflation in the last couple of years but the price of leasure activities have gone through the rough. I went to see Noel Gallagher with support from Gaz Coombes at Bonus Arena in May 2019 and paid £57 for the ticket
Price is generally reflected by demand when it comes to tickets. Oasis could have probably sold out at £400 a ticket, Villa being in the Champions League is a great draw for supporters, especially if they get a good team in their group. What I cannot understand is why Council Leisure centres and places that are always empty when I look in still continue with crazy prices. It is just bad business on an independants part and greediness on a Councils part. Obesity is through the roof, kids are playing less sport than ever, swimming should be free to every child with a paying parent. Council gyms should be free to teenagers. With regard to Larkins I avoid places that I dont feel give value, in the same way I try and avoid junk food places who are poisoning the population. You may have to grab a veggie burger somewhere else in future. My regular pub, Punch, offers two meals for £15 which is unreal value for the portion size and cheaper than Weatherspoons. Really tasty food. There are other places doing similar decent grub.
But someone on here said not long ago no one in Hull had any money and everyone was hard up in Hull after 14 years of the Tories.
If it's an independent restaurant, that's not bad at all for a meal and two drinks - you're paying raw materials, transport, utilities, rent/lease, equipment, waiting staff, skilled staff, management, cost of financial transactions, sitting there for an hour whilst you eat etc. Obviously a chain restaurant is cheaper because many of these costs are reduced because of volume.
Went to my local Indian last night, on their meal deal evening. First time since May/June. Usually we just pay £20 a head and that leaves them a nice healthy tip too. Didn’t even cover the bill last night.
Like a tequila. But like a few so only drink it at home.Wouldn’t pay the price anywhere they charge in a pub or club. Anyone who pays a price like that is a fool.
I was offered a ticket to see UB40 in Bridlington.TBH it's not my kind of music..So I wouldn't even be tempted to see them in Kingston Town. There would be too many Rivers to Cross and it would be a Labour of Love. So overall a less than One in Ten chance. And not even a Rat in Mi Kitchen would make me want to go. Maybe I'd go after a lot of Red Red Wine.
Not everyone likes to drink at home, some people actually like to go to nice places and are willing to pay to do so, they're not all fools.
It's very rare I drink at home, and I never really have. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Presumably hard up people from Hull are paying those prices. They can’t only be sold to out of towners, surely.
