Which other club needing a manager is about to offer him an unlimited budget and millions to spend on wages? Bolton? Blackburn (depsite their wealth, the Venkys arent parting with it are they)? Wigan? Wolves? There isnt a better opportunity out there for him to consider and we are bigger as a club and in potential than any of those mentioned. Its completely right for him and us mate and its a two way thing not all about us going there with the begging bowl. There are no other clubs in search of a manager and dont forget, at 59 years old he may not get a better chance himself to come back into the game at a potentially big club.

Whether Bruce just didnt fancy it; Short didnt fancy him from what was said or they just came to a mutual decision. Whichever, I think it was delaying the inevitable keeping him and they must have come to that conclusion as well. O Neil walked out on Villa because he was disatisfied with the budget for new players. Martin O Neil is a spender and mostly his buys for Villa were poor. Have Sunderland got the money to satisfy O Neil's spending plans? Why is O Neil such a popular choice? He has done nothing other than to waste money on inadequate players. Hughes at least is able to work to a budget and rescued Blackburn from almost certain relegation when he took over from Souness.
