Personal update... I've pretty much left Twitter. Still have the account but seldom check it and generally only when I have picked up an interesting news item from elsewhere.
It's just a cesspit of racists and xRW bots now and has lost any of its legitimacy thanks to Musk.
I've got a BlueSky account (and Threads) and that is growing, but it's still a minnow compared to prime Twitter and I only dip in and out on that too.

Anyone taking a similar path?

 

I jumped to Bluesky six months ago when signup was first open for all

...and last week had to explain to them that, no, I had not uploaded snuff porn to their platform

 

Its only been available here in Ireland in the past couple of months, so I'm playing catch up a bit, but so far it seems a much calmer place - just one with loads of feckin' cats on my timeline - like Facebook on steroids.
A lot of bigger 'names' who I follow on Twitter have migrated across to the platform so its quite familiar. But I've so far managed to avoid your porn postings!!

 

On the same subject...Musk appears intent on destroying any remaining legal or moral credibility he may possess and taking on Governments around the globe (see Brasil) won't help sustain a business that is losing customers and advertiser's like Everton are losing points...

There are still some very good accounts on Twitter but I agree with your general sentiments and have opened a BlueSky account.

 

The obvious example is an account that was finally taken down last week that literally posted the n-word over and over again, and in spite of countless reports because it was posting nothing but racial slurs and nothing else apparently the account didn't break Twitter rules

I'm wondering if it finally got zapped last week not because of the casual and constant racism, but because people instead reported it for impersonation as the profile pic was grabbed from somebody's Facebook page with a Hitler 'tache badly Photoshopped onto it

...and as for the snuff porn (which wasn't snuff porn), it's because I posted this video to say this is surely the career highlight of the bloke who did the utterly ****e Crow remake

That obligation to attend would not have happened with 24 hours notice, probably more like 24 days, so to have double-booked against something so sensitive and important beggars belief.

As you say, what a **** and I'm hoping (without expectation) that if directly implicated in the tragedy he faces criminal prosecution.

I think we all guessed he was ignoring the evidence to appease Israel, but it's now been proved. Another prosecution that won't happen though, I imagine
