Boo Boo Boo..........(just thought I'd get that out of the way at the start.

Does this game really need any introduction? There will be much speculation amongst the Green Army about slimey Scousers etc etc. Do we welcome him back or ignore him? Most will bother to respond and will say they ain't bothered having bothered to respond in the first place. I'm not bothered.......

Can we win this yes we can. We could do with a boost on the result front and this would be an ideal candidate for the first victory.

I think ignoring him is the most dignified thing to do and probably the cruellest cut of all.

Unless of course anyone’s come up with a witty variation on the “we are Plymouth Argyle and we don’t give a hoot” song…… in which case…..

Winning 3pts against them is always the best option.

Listening to the interviews with Rooney and Mumba, both feel we had good spells in the game, particularly in the first half, but weren’t clinical enough in turning promising positions into goal attempts and goals. That’s a recurring theme and was very evident in the QPR and Watford games. The starting 11 had only 2 outfield players that weren’t with us last season (Cissoko and Szucs) with Gyabi somewhere in between. You can’t blame a lack of familiarity between the players so it’s the way they’re being asked to play.

Mumba is also annoyed that he felt he got into the position to block the shot that gave them the goal but it went between his legs with Hazard unsighted.

I didn’t go to this one due to family commitments but I’ll watch thw 90 minutes tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what Sensible thought.

It was an even game and i think we deserved something from this one today. Disappointed . we had some good spells and chances we started strong then they got in and Hazard saved us with three good saves in a matter of minutes ,but their keeper had to make a few good saves.
Cant moan lets go to the next one .. sunderland home.. we can win that .. we need a bit of luck. not sure what system we are playing but sometimes it looks a bit disjointed, edwards as usual ran all day

Well that is spot on Joe. It really was a game that could have gone either way but probably should have been shared. Another case of smash and grab. Not downhearted at all as we competed well in this one and didn't get over run. One comment I would make is that you just sort of knew this was coming in the last 10 minutes because we are Argyle and that is our story.

Well that’s reassuring up to a point.

Although I missed this one, the extra TV coverage meant I watched the QPR and Watford away games live and in full. There were good things in both of those but wee didn’t look quite joined-up in the attacking third. Rooney said it about this one: we’re shooting when we should be passing and passing when we should be shooting. We are over-elaborating at times and not getting the ball into the box quickly enough. As the ‘Erald said, that over-elaboration doesn’t suit Ryan Hardie, who always wants the ball played in behind quickly so he can use his pace.

One good thing: it sounded as if Morgan Whittaker was a bit more himself yesterday. Maybe all the speculation has been weighing him down.

Sunderland (12 points out of 12) and West Brom (10 points from 12). I don't want to be pessimistic but.......

Well it was one game apiece last year, both home wins. The game at your place in February was the 4th fixture managed by Ian Foster before he was sacked on 1st April. It can't be worse than that.

I finally got around to watching the Stoke game.

A decent first half from Argyle, certainly holding their own against Stoke. Whittaker started really well. Both full backs are getting forward: Stoke didn’t take advantage of it but other teams might well do. Mumba could well have won a penalty when trying to win a header from a dead ball.

Rooney said Cissoko would delight and frustrate Argyle fans. He wasn’t wrong there.

If anything, Argyle were stronger still in the second half and definitely edged it. Tijani looked a handful when he came on.
It’s just that last but crucial bit that’s missing, not from lack of ability but just finding that right final pass and/or finish.

An entertaining game with Argyle probably the better side, just, but the football gods produced the wrong score. We definitely deserved a point at least.

My man of the match would be Joe Edwards - again but Whittaker and Randell weren’t far behind.

I just watched the highlights of the Stoke game and you could have won that game, it's always difficult when a popular manager comes back to haunt you - Stoke did that to us with Alex Neil <doh>
We are playing well under the new manager, he has got our youngsters very well organised and looking very dangerous on the break. After the disastrous managerial appointments last season, I wasn't sure how this appointment would turn out but RLB seems to be the real deal. He speaks and acts really well and has everyone playing to their potential. It's still early days but this is the best start to the season we've ever had.
Good luck it should be a great game <cheers>

To understand how bad it was under Foster, watch out for our No 8, playing at RB, Joe Edwards.

He’s not the quickest, he’s not the most skilful but build a brick wall and he’ll run through it for PAFC. We stayed up last year by a 1-0 home win on the last day. Joe Edwards scored the goal with a far post header from free play after a lung busting run from RB. Who else could it have been?

He’s club captain and he runs the dressing room. It’s said that when Foster came in, certain players who’d been squad regulars were left out week after week without a word of explanation. The other players were disturbed to see their teammates treated like that and morale suffered.

They asked Mr Plymouth Argyle to have a word with Foster in their behalf. You’d think a manager would be glad to have a reliable conduit into the dressing room, but apparently Foster told him if he felt like that, then he should look for a new club too.

It was Foster that went and by comparison, when Joe had a minor injury the other week, Rooney got him a coaching kit and had him in the dug-out for a game.

So it can’t be worse that when we played you at your place last year…..
