I’ve had to have a lot of correspondence with my GP office recently - always been fairly approachable and got me in for appointments when needed (too many sometimes!) Definitely think it’s where you go/what systems they have in place. Have been on an NHS waiting list forever though.
OK so update on the blood check situation. Called GP surgery last week to be told I should have had blood taken for testing in July, so why didn't you tell me that back then was my reply, anyway when can you do it? Oh it will be weeks away we're very busy oh hang on there's a cancellation tomorrow Thu. I'll take it I said. Message on Fri tea time after closing time please contact surgery to arrange appointment to discuss blood test results. Finally got through this morning and told earliest appointment for a telephone consultation is 20th Sept. However I can call at 8 each morning and try to get an emergency face to face appointment, but it's not an emergency is it I asked. Can't tell you that but if you want an earlier appointment please try a ring in the morning IF you get through we can always cancel the appointment on the 20th. What a mess the NHS is.
I worked for a company that gave me bupa gold as part of the package, should have kept it up when the job ended.
I was talking to a Welsh couple on holiday a couple of weeks ago.The 'old' boy(I say old,he was 68,so apologies to some of our 'old' boys) had obvious mobility issues,walked with sticks and he'd recently had a knee replacement at a cost of £15 ****ing thousand pounds as he'd been on the waiting list for over 3 years and was so bad he'd become bed-ridden... Worked all his days and had to spend his own hard earned to become semi mobile as he can't afford the other one...Absolutely abhorrent!!
My brothers mrs has just paid for a new hip As the waiting list was three years And she and well our kid thought it’s three years of pain and restricted mobility Or pay and get on with enjoying your life Which she’s done if you can afford it you’d do it
I'm going to need one in the next decade, thanks to rugby in my teens and twenties, and then a physical career. Already had to stop skiing completely and running more than once a week as it left me immobile for two days after and unable to work. Been told that I can't even get on the list yet though, as it's not critical - so when it is 'critical' and I can't move, I'll have to wait another few years, same as in the UK.... So I've started saving already to get it done privately as dont want to sacrifice those years just sitting around waiting.
Both my hips are ****ed with arthritis,same as you,they won't touch them 'yet',probably never will.I'm in real pain if I walk over a mile nowadays... Don't have that kind of money so I'll just lie in bed .....and 'piss' it when we have a bad result(that being the popular retort if things you post are mildly negative ), P.S To you and Chazz.How much are you talking for such a procedure?
It's a lot of money Chazz. I do understand your post though,if it's a choice between suffering or paying if you've got the cash,yes I get that but it shouldn't be happening.
In the UK, about 12-15 grand depending on where you get it done - a bit cheaper than a knee replacement.. not sure how it works if you need both hips done... Find a newly qualified surgeon doing a 2 for 1 offer.. my work medical insurance doesn't cover it as it's a historical injury, so I'll have to pay up. It's ****ty, Ric - because those years sat around waiting, are wasted years (unless you love reading/writing etc).. not so bad if it kicks in in your 80s, as not going to be so mobile anyway. I was at Spire in Anlaby this afternoon, seeing a consultant from the pain management team, as I’ve been suffering from Chronic Sciatica for the past couple of years. They’re going to give me a pain-killing injection that stops the pain for a year or two, in which time the condition will hopefully improve. Two to three months to wait for a slot, which I thought was pretty good, I was expecting it to be well into next year.
It’s a private hospital, but the NHS are paying for it, as they exceeded the time you’re supposed to wait to see a pain management consultant.
Anyone know what the implications of this are? I am aware of studies that have been done relating to microplastics that found similar shaped objects in the body, but they had a different interpretation for the cause of those, but I'm not sure they behaved in the same way so they could be totally seperate.
I know nothing about the topic, but they’re microscopic, so are clearly not ‘visible to the naked eye’.

Based on those two replies, there's an awful lot you don't know. I know nothing about the person that posted it, but implying that John Campbell is a 'racist clown' is laughable. As you've already said you know nothing about it, you're not really adding anything, so why not watch it, and then wait for the replies so you can get educated.
