Spoken like a true bigoted patriot (in exile) ... so what's your solution then Einstein? PS the threat of 'being crushed' has not exactly deterred the Palestinian resistance, has it?
There isn’t a solution really, just different levels of force of Israeli feet on their throats to mitigate risk. Certainly not hoping for this mythical two-state hands together singing Kumbaya nonsense simpletons think can last longer than five minutes. The tunnels, and they’re everywhere under Gaza, need destroying. Hamas’ leaders (yes there’ll be new ones blah blah blah) on trial and jailed for life though preferably just killed. A military presence in Gaza. Curfews. Every adult presumed guilty. They’re indoctrinated cockroaches and can’t be judged by the standards you and I would have of people normally. And for a small bonus I’d have every keffiyeh-clad moron plodding around their city calling for the destruction of Israel stuck in a tunnel for eleven months but that’s unrealistically wishful thinking.
The 'simpletons' recognise that without significant change (and the will for it), the situation will only get worse and not just for the Palestinians... there is also a growing (International) opposition to the continuing disregard for and contravention of International Law by Israel ...
That's often crossed my mind Archers. Edit: by that I mean all people that sacrifice the life of another.
Ok you can start a verse of Kumbaya on the border and hopefully everyone will join in and get along forever.
Or non-blinkered statesmen can simply recognise that this is a 'war' that can never be won by either side and come to a diplomatically agreed compromise agreement - nobody was singing Kumbaya as the Good Friday Agreement was put in place, but plenty were singing 'Things Can Only Get Better' after ...
As with every time you’ve raised this probably brilliant point for the last eleven months this isn’t vaguely comparable to the GFA. They’ve had relative peace at times. One of the catalysts for October 7th was Israel building a relationship with Saudi and in general being increasingly accepted by the serious Arab countries. Iran, via Hamas, don’t want that as they’ve no interest in peace. There’s no moderate Palestinian leader waiting to take over seamlessly from Hamas. Hamas will fight or die no matter how much you infantilise and cede to their demands. To get vaguely anywhere you have to take Hamas out and even then you’ve got to muzzle what’s left.
As I said earlier - world wide pressure is mounting - UK suspends certain weapons exports to Israel on the basis that they might be used for purposes that contravene International Law ... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c75nekwkd4yt
Pressure isn't mounting from places it counts. Biden is more of a lame duck now than he was before Harris became the nominee (if it's humanly possible for someone almost comatose to be more of a lame duck). Harris dares not say anything too radical in case she alienates the still sizeable pro-Israel bloc ahead of the election. Meanwhile the major Arab states continue to be torn between populism and pragmatism. What the UK has done is mere lip service. The equivalent of me taking away your bottle of water, removing a drop of liquid, and giving it back to you. You're not going thirsty.
I despise the man, but peace is far more likely under a Trump administration than any other in recent history.
