I think if we could go up we may be able to keep him another season, might be better for his development stepping up to the PL in familiar surroundings. Or that's maybes just wishful thinking
Agreed I know for a fact Bayern Munich have tried to sign him in the past. They’ll be still watching him, no doubt about it.
He's once in a lifetime, Colin Todd when he first broke into the team with his tackling but Riggy has so much more.
Let me start by saying he has still to find his real position, and his own role in a team. At the minute he has a freedom afforded by teammates. That is perfect for him, because we do not needed to see a role. There are so many bits of players I see in him. I see a splash of the great Spanish midfielders, like Iniesta, who were so quick in the brain in the feet. I see a eastern european determination and think of Hagi. I think he has vision that is unreal and think Michael Laudrup. Those are really lofty comparisons, but at 17 he has the world at his feet. Every minute he is on the pitch is a joy. What a time we are enjoying as Sunderland fans with our youth players. Best in my time. Patto, Neil, Rigg just excelling. A new wave coming behind them. Happy happy times.
Love what he does here v Portsmouth yesterday. https://x.com/rokerreport/status/1830334126592811284?s=46&t=26DLp2oXvFO7UDfe5HEPwQ
The lad has an unbelievable ceiling. I'd go so far as to say he can achieve more than Jobe can (no disrespect to JB). If he carries on this form, we face a battle to keep him next summer.
I swear there was a moment in the Preston game where he faked a pass a took out three lads. Mental talent
After the portmouth win. I thought he was very similar to Roy Keane. Didn't post as also feels mental to compare a 17 year old to someone so good. But he really is that kind of level of potential.
That’s not even a debate - Jobe has 18+ months on him too. Rigg is our best talent comfortably. Potential is scary.
Myself. Just 39 years younger, better looking, better footballer and far fitter. The similarities are staggering
Bit of Pavel Nedvěd about him maybe. Combination of the attacking threat of a winger with the defensive scrappiness of a CM.
Yeah, but still loves it and gets stuck in. Think it's just more of his profile and how he moves with the ball, sliding little,.clever passes about.
I think he already has a better touch than Keane ever had. To me he reminds me of a young Gazza, how he glides around the field, nonchalantly completing hard passes or to looses an opponent made to look effortless. The kid is a real, real talent.
