I found Clarke often slowed attacks down by trying to pull the defender in before going at them. Mundle doesn't care and will just go full throttle. Hopefully he keeps it up and builds on his early form.
Wilson looks a right character but I’m amazed the lads seem to be getting a bus back and not flying!!
3m is significant, seemed out of nowhere especially with his lack of games. Hemir replacement in the u21s short term? Really like to see trey back in that group
As is traditional the day after the deadline I’ve been idly poking around on Transfermarkt looking at free agent strikers. Some decent ones on there tbf
I think unpredictability is the main difference between them. At championship level Clarke could literally tell the defender 'I'm going that way' and he had enough pace and close control to ease past them, it won't work so well in the prem. Mundle is more aggressive, faster, can attack with either foot. Seems to have plenty of confidence to step into Clarke's boots and start scoring and contributing straight away.
Posting in both threads cos it applies to both soz What I find funny is how many of us (myself included) have said Mayenda isn’t ready. Yet every match day vlog I’ve watched from non Sunderland fans have said he’s a joke, unreal etc. Pompey fan today, Barnsley fan at our Burnley game. Even my mag mate has said I like your Spanish striker I think he’s mint. Must be Sunderland striker goggles for us
Equally plenty of us on here have been backing him after his first game this season. Not from hope but from what we've seen on the pitch. Getting more obvious game by game but you could see it from kickoff.
I think we all wanted him to succeed. The problem is that he committed the cardinal sin at Sunderland. You can have all the ability in the world, but if you don't put 100% effort into every game you play, the fans will call you out on it. He was just not suited to English football.
I loved that he was so confident to score with his left yesterday. It gives us an additional dimension. But I'm not getting ahead of myself. He needs to put in 30 performances like we've seen so far before he fills Jack Clarke's boots.
