Results haven’t been great but we were expected to lose today and actually thought we showed some positive signs. Three draws against beatable teams isn’t great but take them on an Individual basis and our squad has looked poor going into each one. We did alright today. Judge after our best team have had 3/4 games together.
What a bizarre read this thread is. I came away from that match really heartened. We were the better side in the first half and pushed them right back. We were second best in the second half, true, as their squad chock full of premier league standard players came to the fore, and ours tired. We have a raft of new talent to come into the team in a fortnight. Yes we got beaten - by a sure-fire top six side. But this season of transition looks to be going in the right direction.
Good summary. I am with you that is the best I have seen us play this season and at the back especially; Coyle, Jones and Mcloughlin bedding into Walters style of play and getting the ball up field much quicker by rotating positions at the back and moving forward with and without the ball. I like Jarvis but he did lose man/ball for their 2 goals. Zambrano grew into the game in the first half won some decent tackles and moved us forward. Omur had one of his best games fo the season and made a big contribution in the defensive areas. Kept thinking during the game we could have done with Connolly (at his best that is)
Walter’s first season at Hamburg started off slow. Quite a lot of draws in the first few months of the season. I really don’t know what people expect when we’ve had a huge rebuild due to outgoings and made most of our signings from mid-August onwards. Blame the owner and vice-chairman.
Think we've only got 3 games in September - Blunts (H) Stoke (A) and Cardiff (H). I'd take 5 points if you offered me that now, with us drawing the first 2 and beating Cardiff.
the big issue was we knew we would have to sign a lot of players in the summer we seem to have gone with a set of cheap players
I'm pretty indifferent to whoever the manager is generally. In his defence TW has been working with one hand behind his back since he arrived and has only just been given some decent tools to do his job - albeit with a few still missing. Needs this break badly to get the players up to speed with what he wants them to do. Should be given at least 12 games and then the big Turk can reflect on his decisions and stick or twist. I've seen signs of progress, and doubt we'll bother either end of the table this season.
Kamara and Belloumi and Puerta look like they could be very exciting players, Zambrano will adjust and also be very exciting and palmer will show he can also fit in,Simon’s will get better with more minutes and burns will surely get a chance as will Hughes so really plenty to look forward to, I also think now in the next window they will address the striker issue if they don’t do it before with a free. So does not matter they may be cheap players but they are certainly capable.
A "perfect" Homer perpromance Leeds United boss Daniel Fake: "We spoke about a perfect away performance at Sheffield Wednesday and that feels like a perfect home performance. "It's important to finish the game with a clean sheet and it's good for the mood, the table and the confidence. Overall, I would say it was a perfect finish to August. "With eight points out of four games and three clean sheets, we're on a good path. "Mateo Jospeh scored a lot of goals at youth level but has to keep going on this path. If he does, then he has a chance of having a very good career. "You either have it or you don’t and there’s still work to do, but Mateo definitely has it." Hull boss Tim Walter: "We conceded a goal in a bad moment and then it's a different game - and that's how it went. "We then conceded a second goal at the end and Leeds are a good team. But it's not necessary to lose here and that's why I'm frustrated. "We didn’t score in the moments we had, especially before half-time, but we need conviction. You have to show me that you want to score and I didn’t see that today. "Leeds killed us today, but we have to keep going."
