According to Wikipedia, it's all competitions, which means 4 games to go to equal them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_records_in_England
Scroll up slightly, to the top of that section. You'll see the words "Records in this section refer to The Football League and the Premier League"
Nigel adkins on saintsplayer: "The supporters are part of the team, i'll tell you that now. They lifted the roof off the place tonight" Well done team.
So its Fortress St Mary's...as CBK says..get behind the playing part of the team and when they do lose at home (hopefully next season) give them support as they leave the pitch
'And it's over to St Mary's where Southampton have beaten Manchester United to set a new record of fifty consecutive home wins.' I can dream, can't I?
If we do manage 25 straight home wins, d'you think Cortese would pay to have the word 'Fortress' put up in front of 'St Mary's' at the stadium entrance?
Either that, or something along the lines of "Why have you even bothered to turn up? I'd suggest just turning around and getting back on coach".
This is a really good article: http://theseventytwo.com/football-l...mpton-rack-up-the-points-to-remain-pointless/ The gist of it being that it is pointless any team coming to Southampton, as pointless they will remain. Also reminds us that if Blackpool don't beat us we will have gone unbeaten in the league at St. Mary's for a whole year.
Good read. Love all stats about Saints at the moment because they're all good (apart from away form but we can gloss over that).
Shelvey has just been recalled by Liverpool (due to a serious injury to Lucas), so that will make out task just that little bit easier against Blackpool next week. Not only has he been on decent form for them, but he was one of their few players under the age of about 35!
I was more than happy to see Shelvey go back (not because someone is injured of course). Blackpool are a serious threat to the record though.
