He'll be happy about it matePoor sod
Was excellent for U21’s the other night and not bringing a LW or CF in just might mean he’s one that benefits overall. For all that he’s still raw he’s very enthusiastic, quick and has very good stats for the rare occasions he features for first team.Poor sod
hope he has a call back on his loan thenWas excellent for U21’s the other night and not bringing a LW or CF in just might mean he’s one that benefits overall. For all that he’s still raw he’s very enthusiastic, quick and has very good stats for the rare occasions he features for first team.
4m is too much for a 30yr old who's never done it above Ligue 2 imoSurprised we didn't just give the 4 m they wanted for Mendy by his record alone, he was worth it. It was money offered that let us down both offer and wages
Honestly not sure that’s true for wages, we must be competing to get the players we have and for lads like Jobe to extend. I think we probably do have a fairly conservative top fee though. Feels like that’s around 5m from the alleged bids despite rumours of more like 10.Surprised we didn't just give the 4 m they wanted for Mendy by his record alone, he was worth it. Do you think it went through? Haven’t seen anything confirmed.hope he has a call back on his loan then
I think this is a crucial point. People are too busy slagging Speakman off for not giving them instant gratification that they can't see that we're bringing players in who are going to step up as we go forward. The club almost seems to have a plan. We seem to bring players in with a view to see them establish themselves in the first team in around 12 -18 months. Think it's called succession planning or future proofing. It appears to be ingrained as part of the plan.
The problem with that is people aren't prepared to wait 12 -18 months to see the benefits.
This window there appears to be a few players that should step up much quicker than that, Wilson, Samed and Mepham and by signing on loan we have the option to have a good look at them before making any deal permanent. Good planning, in my view.
I know we all wanted a super star centre forward, me included, but I can see that the squad has improved and that we are better at the end of the window than at the beginning. It may take longer than some people may like, but, in my view, we are getting there.
Small steps.
Now, can we concentrate on the football, Haway
Edit I forgot Browne D'oh

Improving the squad is the most important part tho. Blackburn had the best striker in the league last yr and struggled.I just think it's revisionism to try and suggest the window has be good, despite 'solid' acquisitions in the likes of Browne and Mepham context must be sought in the fact that we've sold a massive asset in Clarke financially and whilst a couple of fees have knocked about this summer we've hardly put any of that into the position we've struggle the most since the Stewart injury and the Simms return to Everton.
People alledging vanity bids in the 11th hour for the likes of Bamba aside, it's clear they wanted someone else and their inability to do this despite having all summer and a relative war chest for this level is concerning and continues to be a major disappointment.
There's every chance we come good with what we've got and I'm always behind the lads but looking at it objectively the striker situation is such a glaring issue the fact it hasn't been adequately addressed considering the strikers signed by even other championship clubs this summer, massively outweighs and overshadows our other business, that's how important it is.
I guess none of our players are regular scorers until they are. Clarke only really caught fire last season. My biggest worry is goals. Having lost Clarke we lose guaranteed goals which mean points. It’s cross your fingers time on that front, doesn’t mean we won’t score enough but a proven couple of regular scorers would have been reassuring. Arguably Browne and Jobe are our safest bets. Signing Samed maybe helps get them closer to the right zone.
Is this true?...
I've just heard that the Jack Clarke is not 100% finalised yet?
Some mates are saying that there is a slight hitch somewhere?
Is there a problem with his medical?
Does anyone know anything about this?
Just asking guys...
