A lot of potential from this window but a lot of unknowns.
Mepham probably the safest bet and eases some anxiety
Samed we know brings experience to our our cdm position where we needed someone
Poveda - not sure if he’ll be fit but is a baller
Wilson - unknown but has potential to be good ( or not )
Abdullahi - no idea feels like a Hemir level gamble https://www.facebook.com/share/r/ryvSje9YXjMjpWUC/?mibextid=UalRPS not the assured striker we wanted, not even any clips
Aleksic- highly rated, cost a bit no idea

Would be a liar if I said we’d sorted our forward, would be a liar if I said we hadn’t

The accountant’s taken a sigh of relief, Le Bris has some work to do

I wonder how much Caen wanted in the end for Mendy? Rumours say they wanted €5 million plus maybe why we said no but I would’ve been way happier with Mendy than another unproven kid from Europe.

It’s done now no point whinging, just got to hope that the new lads help kick us on

Was Fofana the striker we came closest to in the end? Cannon to Stoke, albeit on loan, feels like it would have been very achievable.

Decided not to comment last night as emotions were running high for us all, likely still are.

No point in lying but im def disappointed in not signing another championship ready CF. I do think some people went overboard last night but if thats their way to vent n show their frustrations then fair enough. The CF situaion has been poor the last 12 months or so but i would also say the situation this season looks better than last so we have improved in that area.

I do get annoyed when i see comments saying the window has been a failure - it hasnt. I get some went overboard because it has been a good window and they felt the CF position was the missing piece.

For me there has been so many positives this summer and they all outweigh the disappointed of losing Clarke n not signing a striker.

RLB is the biggest positive, we all really like him and this was always going to be the biggest n most important 'signing' of the window.
We retained Rigg, i remember most on here saying keeping him would be our best piece of business all summer - we kept him!
    Ballard signed a new deal
    Jobe signed a new deal
Hume, neil, Patterson and Roberts all stayed despite there being bids on the table for all 4
We signed the experienced CM we have been crying out for in Browne
We added a really quality CM in Sameh who brings that pace n energy we have lacked for a while.
CM is now a position of real strength, its the most important position on the pitch for me and we now look really strong in that area.
Poveda will be a great addition, i think his presence alone has meant Roberts has lifted his game.
Moore is a very good no2 who again will push Patterson
Mepham, what a signing this could be. A quality championship CB who again turns a potential weakness into a real strength now at CB.
Aleksic is a wow talent from what I've seen, this boy looks the real deal and I'm buzzing to see him in action for us.
Abdullahi is meant to be a cracking prospect, i need to watch more of himself myself before giving my thoughts.
Isidor has signed and already seems to get the club and looks buzzing to play for us. I love that RLB clearly wanted him so therefore must know he can play in his system so im looking forward to seeing him play.
We have got off to a cracking start
Some of our younger players have really kicked on

Yes the striker is deflating and they must review how they are 1st identifying scouting targets through data, 2nd how are they scouting potential targets and then 3rd how are they signing these lads.

What i would say is i honestly believe that both Mayenda and Isidor can score double figures this season, i don't except either to be close to 20 goals but they can hit double figures.

Every team in the league will have areas of weakness, either in terms of squad depth or 1st team positions and we are no different

Overall, i think its been a pretty good window with almost all our needs met. We have got proven championship experience in the team which is what we were crying out fir last season

Really good summary, more frustration of what could have been than anything, midfield is excellent and we are better upfront than last year, bars low like, was going to ask you if you’d seen much of the new striker? Very limited footage online, looks rapid and strong from the footage for nigerias u20s though

I'm so glad some on here don't have a say in running the club, sometimes it's not the big names that you need, sometimes they don't fit the system.
    I give you:
    Griesman - Barcelona
    Grigg - Sunderland
    Hazard - Madrid
    Courtinhio - Barcelona
    Torres - Chelsea
    Carol - Liverpool
    Werner - Chelsea
    Kagawa - Man U
    Kaka - Madrid
    Thomasson - Newcastle
We need players that fit our system, that fit the tactics.

I’m over the moon with midfield acquisitions, just got to hope the new lads up front do the business.

we all wanted more experience in the team, I think we definitely have more of that now than the team we finished last season with.

Yes it would’ve been great to have had an experienced number 9 walk through the door which we would’ve had if it wasn’t for Caen being taken over.

Ill watch him today mate, didnt want to waste my time watching him yesterday if it was just another name linked!!

I honestly do get the frustration, i was the same last night but we have had a good window and i truly believe as a squad we are better now than we were at the start of the window.

I say it every time but every transfer window is an opportunity to improve the team n squad, whether thats for the short, medium or long term - and i think we have done that this window. I really like the balance in our squad now, think we have more players that fit the system and compliment each other.

For it to have been a perfect window for me id of wanted another CF in and i would have loved a fullback on loan who could cover RB & LB.

I'm actually pleased we never signed another LM (i know isidor could play there if needed) as i really want Watson to get involved more as the season goes on. The lad has huge talent and is normally one of the most impressive wingers at u21 level so hoping he starts to step up more this season

Im not convinced that Mendy would be a RLB player btw, the clips i watched he was very poor at pressing. I know his goal scoring record looks impressive n he looks a strong lad but his pressing was poor in the games i watched so i dont think he was the answer at all

Well posted Scout, a calming voice in a sea of ridiculous over the top of who can moan the longest and loudest.
I stayed with the thread til 11pm and some of the hysteria was frankly embarrassing....call themselves fans..I sometimes wonder.
So many positives this season and yes it's a shame we haven't got a CF who none of us know would have been a success anyway.
    Roll on 3pm.

Lets be honest none of us are surprised that Cirkin is generating interest, what a player!!

Still think we can have a cracking season, then we get the big opportunity to improve the team in January (last couple January's havent been great for us signing players to immediately improve the team)

Great post and I'm so glad you waited until the morning to post this. It would have been lost in all the negativity and frustration last night. Your posts are what I look out for to give a knowledgeable, balanced and fair view of anything!

I agree. Our business has been very good in the window and we have upped the level of experience, which is essential. I have been banging on about singing players that are championship ready and robust to cope with its demands. In the main we have done this.

I am just going to pretend we have spent 15m on Wilson and he is the man.

Off to paint my ball red.

Very very happy with the transfer window overall. The only downfall being a CF. I went to bed last night thinking we hadn’t signed one at all.

felt slightly better waking up to see one signed. He’s not experienced. I’m not going to say he’s not championship ready. We ultimately don’t know that. Belgian clubs recruit well and a good few strikers have came out of that league that they’ve found gems.

they signed him from the Nigerian league. He has to be a talent to do that.

Of course he may not be ready yet. But we don’t know so let’s not write him off.

other than that we’ve strengthened defence. I would’ve liked a left back to come in but we have got players to play there at least. A strong experienced CB who is brilliant for this league. A strong holding midfielder with champions league and ligue 1 experience, a cm who is highly rated, alongside browne, poveda, Isidor and others to join. Apart from Clarke were ultimately stronger this window and in a good position to keep pushing, mayenda has shown he can be called upon as well so I feel comfortable.

we’re in prime position to keep position. RLB has got the tunes back out of the players again, who says he can’t do it with the new boys. It’s shown his involved in recruitment so he’s happy with who’s come in therefore I am.
