They’ve just signed a young defender from Fulham but I highly doubt he’ll be involved tomorrow Young forward Mark O’Mahony joined the other day from Brighton. He’s likely to be on the bench
I'd seen they'd signed O'Mahony. I was hoping they wouldn't get any centre halves in as they're really struggling there.
Horrible place to go, good enough to go there and win but like a lot of you content with a point and going into the break unbeaten
Apparently or so I have just read. If Sunderland beat Portsmouth with a clean sheet when they meet at Fratton Park on Saturday, they will become the first team in Championship history to win their opening four games without conceding a single goal since the EFL restructure in 2004/05.
As well as making my own arrangements I've also been spending this evening helping people with tickets, giving advice on pubs, etc. I've been talking to a mate, who's there already and busy coordinating trains, with LNER, etc, so all Sunderland supporters are helped ... ... if a daft lad, like me, and an ordinary Sunderland supporter, can do all this how come Mr Holmes, the highly paid Ticket Office Manager, can't do likewise. He has the staff and facilities but stopped selling tickets, for tomorrow, because he'd made such a mess of it, meaning some Sunderland supporters couldn't go. The game isn't sold out at all, disgraceful. Many people didn't receive theirs so have to travel without and queue up hoping the Portsmouth ticket office can provide replacements. The staff said today, they're not happy with this as it causes upset if people become angry as kick off approaches. They didn't have this once in League One last season. FFS, get it sorted! Message I've just received .... I've just spoken to LNER and this is the most accurate up to date position. 1) The earliest LNER departure from Newcastle to London Kings Cross is 07:30 (at present there is no attempt to operate an earlier service) 2) If you are booked on an 'advance single' ticket from London Waterloo to Fratton your ticket is valid on any SWR service from London Waterloo to Fratton 3) I will be arranging a request to be made to the guard on the 17:24 SWR service from Fratton to London Waterloo to include an additional call at Vauxhall 4) LNER management have informed their control team of the situation and they're requesting a hold to be placed on the 19:30 LNER service from London Kings Cross to Newcastle. They have specifically set up a call with myself for 19:00 hours tomorrow evening so I can provide an update to them as to whether a delay to the 19:30 departure will be required.
So will I. I don't usually look forward to the trek down to Portsmouth tbh, everyone seems knackered including the team. But I'll be surprised if we don't win tbh, we look like a real team these days. Is the weirdo, with the bell, still banned from the ground?
Regis will have us set up to win, and we will. It'll be interesting to see if he starts Mayenda and subs for Isidor or vice versa. Personally I'd do the former, give the lad a confidence boost and it's not like he hasn't earned it.
This is the first game this season i've came into it thinking we should win. You know what that means I've been quite impressed by Pompey but we should have enough to come away with 3 points. I would probably take a draw now though. Think i'd start go; Mundle Mayenda Roberts Jobe Browne Rigg Cirkin Ballard O'Nien Hume Patterson Isidor to make his debut from the bench. 2-0 SAFC, Roberts and Isidor.
I think psychologically it would be a strong decision to stick with Mayenda. If we switch to Isidor and he doesn't instantly click then we risk damaging the morale of both of our CFs. It's not like Mayenda has been poor in any way, he's on 2 in 3 and looks like he's getting into the physicality of the league.
Enjoy mate wish I was going think it will be a bit of a battle in this game and I hope the lads are up for it as they will need to deal with some shihousery before the final whistle blows.
It'll be just like going to Wycombe under Ainsworth imo but thankfully we have O'Nien, Hume and Ballard at the back ... ... all we need is a good referee and we'll win this. I don't mind losing to a better team on the day, don't like being cheated though.
Totally agree bud this will have to be a strong ref but I get the feeling our boys won't back down from a bit of a tough game. Hope your celebrating all the way home as well.
Been down Portsmouth area since last Saturday, unfortunately I'm doing the trip in reverse today. Back up to north east so will be passing all you lads who's on their way down. Have a good one and looking forward to 5pm when we have a points gap at the top
