Ange has just confirmed that there won't be any further incomings, and that there is currently nothing concrete on the table for Lo Celso or Reguilon but that other windows close later than the PL, so we'll see. I personally think Reguilon should be kept as LB cover until at least January. Like Spence being brought back into the fold, not sure why we can't/won't do the same with the Spaniard.
I'd agree but I'm not sure how our homegrown numbers are. I'm surprised nobody's come in for him, though.
Last season, we were in a position where injuries to any of the following players led to a huge drop in standard and/or effectiveness of the system: Vicario Micky Porro Udogie Richarlison Bentancur This season, that list has gotten much shorter but it still exists, which means it's still a problem: Vicario Udogie Micky
Strange news coming from Betis , we have a priority option to sign Johnny Cardoso ( Googled, still non the wiser ) in the future and this will be part of deal involving GLC
If Betis choose to sell him at some point in the future, we have priority to sign him. But we might not choose to sign him at some point in the future. Another club might choose to sign him at some point in the future. If another club choose to sign him at some point in the future, we will receive a percentage of the transfer. If no other club chooses to sign him at some point in the future and he ends his career at Betis, we will not gain player or money. I think whoever thought up this agreement was probably behind the new Europa League format. Brain shaped like a pretzel.
I wouldn’t say he confirmed it as he said it’s “unlikely”. I’m hoping Spurs will better the signing of our Argentina duo, Villa and Ardilles back in ‘78. Been waiting forever though…Klinsmann came close though!
It reminds me of that "special relationship" that we negotiated with Real Madrid as part of the Bale deal.
The priority thing just means that we don't have to negotiate with Betis if someone else has agreed a fee with them. We can match the offer and they have to accept. They probably would anyway, so it's pretty pointless. Premier League premium is definitely a thing, though. The other bit is a sell-on clause. Cardoso is American, also qualified to play for Brazil and has an Italian passport. He's Brameralian.
Ah yes, that magnificent arrangement whereby we gave them Modric and Bale and in return they gave Mesut Ozil to Arsenal.
Josh Keeley has joined Jamie Donley at Orient on loan, following up on his spell at Barnet last season.
Keeley’s inked a new deal and joined Donley at Orient for the season. Really hope we’re looking to reestablish a loan relationship with clubs again, Orient, Yeovil and Swindon took a lot of players during a few years spell from us and it worked well I’d say. Quite a few went on to play for our first team in some capacity. Edit: **** sake, PNP beat me too it
Apparently Spurs and Betis have agreed a pre arranged fee for Johnny Cardoso if Spurs decide they want to sign him in the future. I’m guessing it means if someone came in and offered more then Spurs would give Betis what was agreed and then keep the profit for themselves. Interesting way of doing a transfer.
Basically we’re letting them get Gio for peanuts and betting that we make up some of that on this other player in the future - or we get a player for a preferred price. No idea what he’s like as a footballer but not one we need right now as we have plenty of DMs. There’ll be plenty to unpack about incomings in this window but we’ve got creative and ruthless when we’ve had to with the outgoings, which is long overdue.
Glass Argie to Betis has been given a here we go by Romano. Another journo reckons fee is around €4m. We’ve finally ridden ourselves of that god awful 19/20 fiasco bunch. Almost £100m spent on the two and we’ve gotten just €4m in return . Edit: in fact make circa £125m on the three and it’s just €4m back.
Lots of journos reporting that Villa tried a last minute push for him and for a higher fee, but he had his heart set on a return to Betis.
In a way I’d like to have seen him at Villa just to confirm what some of us already know and that he’s not suited to English football. As it is, I bet we get clips of him at Betis and people saying what a mistake it was to let him go etc
